When I first tested SL's L'eau, it brought back an olfactory memory: Nautica's White Sail.
I acquired some White Sail so I could do a side-by-side test.
I did that test today and I would say my memory was correct. They are quite similar. Both convey the "laundered shirt accord" coupled with citrus and clean notes. The Lutens offering is a touch sweeter at points in the dry down, but I don't see it to be in any way superior.
Nautica's offering predates Lutens. And can be had at a fraction of the cost.
Should any of you like L'eau but are hesitant due to its price, White Sail might be worth a test.
