Fragrances I'm ashamed to admit I like (guilty pleasures)

Mine is Can Can by Paris Hilton and also Unforgivable Woman by Sean Jean.

Fantasy by Britney is a real guilty pleasure of mine, it smells like these dolls my sister had that turned into cupcakes, not that I played with dolls as a kid...

Oh God yes, my SotD was in fact Paris Hiltons Can Can.

Other than that I like Britney's Curious, I'm not a big fan
of her Fantasy line, but that first one still rocks my world.

In the right mood, I really like fresh watery aquatics. I know they smell like cleaning products, but I don't care! I used to love The Body Shop's Oceanus, especially the bath oil. I should really give Cool Water a sniff -- I never have.

I like J.Lo's Deseo, but I'm not especially ashamed of that. It smells really summery and good to me.

I have got to try Paris Hilton Can Can now! Lately, I like Gale Hayman's Delicious Cotton Candy. I have Britney Spears Midnight Fantasy, and I love its juicy fruity syrupyness in hot summer weather, but I've yet to try Fantasy. I would probably like that. I also love Jessica Mcclintock, Provocative Woman by Elizabeth Arden, and I keep a Jovan Musk Oil and a Coty Wild Musk oil just in case I'm in the mood for those.

You know, I want to hunt down Can Can for a test spritz too! Lots of endorsements here. Usually really sweet candyish stuff makes me feel a little queasy, but it sounds like it's not as sweet as all that.

None. Honestly, if I found a fragrance I loved that was a drugstore or celebuscent, I'd be praising it to the skies! I don't care where the juice comes from, as long as it smells good.

back when kenzo ph and fahrenheit were overly popular I was ashamed to even wear them.
I've never stopped using adidas sport, but I wouldn't easily admit it.

Jovan Musk Oil, Elizabeth Taylor's White Diamonds & RED by Georgio Beverly Hills. I don't own any more of the last two but I do still have the Jovan.

Elizabeth Taylor Passion parfum, Diamonds and Rubies and Diamonds and Sapphires which is a muskier version, IMO, of Estee Lauder's Dazzling Silver.

My new interest in the Dali scents has me baffled as well.

A few of my guilty pleasure scents come from the Home Shopping Network, which is a teeny bit embarrasing (I guess I've always had the blind buy risk gene- but they can be returned to HSN, unlike Evil-bay).
Goddess by Marilyn Miglin, and Acqua Serena by Perlier are the names.

I also enjoy a few scents with manly names and hope no one asks me what I'm wearing when I have them on- Eau du Coq and Le Troisiemme Homme particularly.

LOL my co-workers would think I am nuts to avoid or be embarrased by celebrity scents- they already think I am insane by seeking out pricey unpronounceables when there are "really nice" perfume lines like D&G, JLo, and Baby Phat available everywhere. I must admit, now I must sniff Can Can

Edited to add: Elizabeth Arden Provocative Interlude is another guilty pleasure.

Oh yes, they have this little bottle of pure Vanilla Eau de Toilette too, it last forever and ever.
My bigsister and me lived for that stuff a couple of years ago. So good!

It was actually your post in the SOTD thread that helped me to 'come out' about my love for Can Can. If it weren't for you I'd still be ashamed to admit my feelings for Can Can. LOL

Not that I feel shame over any of my scents, but ones that are rarely mentioned; perhaps it is the thrifty price tag peut-etre.

I wore Anais Anais back in the day and a couple of months ago I bought a bottle...I still love it! I guess it's less that it's embarrassing in and of itself, but "back in the day" was like 25 years ago...

Like Brielle, I admit a certain fondness for Charlie. A friend of mine (NOT a perfumista!) wears it and she smells just wonderful. I don't wear it often, but once in a while I indulge, for old times' sake.

I really like VIP by Usher ! *LOL* The bottle is so lovely to hold too.

I wore Charlie back in the day, but if you knew that one the current one just doesn't deliver. I like Charlie White very much, however. It's a fruity floral, and fruity florals are my guilty secret entire genre, not that I really care to keep it a secret. Obviously.

Azzaro Chrome is my most frowned upon by the taste police.

Mariabar, I sampled Diesel Fuel for Life last year and was very impressed by it. I also sampled and loved Beckham Signature for Women at the same time (they were freebie samples thrown into my Ulta shopping bag). Now the Beckham one I do find a little bit embarrassing to admit to, but it smells very nice!

Just because a couple of perfumistas I know find these to be dime-store-doo-doo...

Ashamed might not be the right word.....Anyway.....Paris Hilton for Men really smells good.....No I do not have this.....but I wouldn't mind if someone gave this to me as a gift.....I also believe that Gio for Men is a fantastic scent.....Polo Black and Blue are very good also!!!

I don't really feel embarassed by any of my fragrances choices but I suppose Kate Moss Vintage is the most fitting for this thread. Not because it's a celebrity perfume but more for the fact that I despise Kate Moss herself, I really am not a fan! But I do enjoy Vintage's lightly powdery quality, it meshes well with my skin and garners a lot of compliments. Plus I think the bottle is very pretty

CHANTILLY, my mother's favorite perfume...I'm wearing it today to commemorate Mother's Day and surround myself with memories of my dear mother! I guess I'm not ashamed to admit that I like it, but no one ever mentions it much and it's a very common drug store scent. Still, it's so beautiful to me!

Same for me. Aquatics get so much dissing here, but I like 'em too!

Champs-Elysees, Jontue, Princess, Liz Claiborne, Chloe. Stuff from Clean, Avon, and Bath & Body Works. I have plenty of frags that would give the tastemakers conniptions . . . but I love them.

I'm not ashamed, but it was cheapo stuff at the time. Morny Sandalwood. Sweet and powdery but I love it.

Vintage Chantilly is sensational! That little hint of evergreen (juniper maybe?) and the leather in the base makes it rather grand, IMO.

As for SJP Lovely, I was unimpressed at first too. In fact I could not smell it at all, except for wisp of musk. I tried it again later and find it much better, I have always surmised that the first batch I sniffed was spoilt.

B&BW White tea and Ginger is fabulous in the summer.

Zibeline- I LOVE vintage Chantilly - it's gorgeous - my Mom had lots of it when I was little.

I LOVE CLEAN men - the fragance- to die for ! Tested it on my husband today - OMG- lovely !

I was discussing perfumes with a friend and she leant over and made me smell her wrist. It was really very nice and she guiltily said it was called 'silky knickers'...wierd name.

I mist admit loving Revlon's Jontue - but I have stockpiled the extrait for years and do not have to use the anemic drugstore spray! Just a beautiful fragrance dear to my heart.

I suppose I can understand the sheepishness that might come from wearing a "cheesy" celebuscent, but I really don't get why there would be any shame attached to wearing and enjoying a fragrance that's inexpensive. I've always worn Avon scents proudly - it's never occurred to me to be ashamed of them just because they're affordable. (Yves Rocher scents are very affordable, but people don't seem to be ashamed of them - is it because they're French?)

Anyway, I've recently discovered that I love Fancy by Jessica Simpson! (It reminds me a lot of Euphoria, actually....with a sweet and creamy pink cupcake at the heart!) That doesn't really shame me either, but I do have a bit of a giggle when I get a compliment or inquiry about it. Same with Pink Sugar. I think it's the fluffy pink and frilly over-the-top girliness of these that makes me feel a bit silly, and the fact that these get so many more comments than my much more "respectable" perfumes. But I'm happy to wear them, and happy to admit it when I do!

Don't get me wrong, there are definitely scents I won't go near because I don't like or respect the celebrity associated with them (I hear you TheLipPrint) but if I do sniff and like and buy, then I'll happily own up. Actually I have a mini of With Love...Hillary Duff (!!) on the way to me now, and I have every reason to believe I'm going to love it! I'm also intrigued by lilybelle's Delicious Cotton Candy....but yeesh, that bottle!!

Btw, blkbrd, I've always been under the impression that WE are the tastemakers!!

Fancy was the only one I liked last year at the mall -- sweet (and quite synthetic!) roses, delicious woods, warm vanilla -- what not to like!

Fantasy by pop diva Brittany Spears my aunt got it for me on my birthday and it smells quite good on my skin although the packaging in tres um.. interessant

DKNY Be Delicious - It's one of those perfumes that screams FRUIT and is super sweet, but I've been wearing it a long time and have grown pretty attached to it.

and I wouldn't say that I'm ashamed per say...it's more that I think that since I'm not in high school or college (and we'll leave it at that) anymore that I should be wearing something a tad more grown up

I had a bit of a experience recently. I walked past a young woman who I thought smelled very nice, so I asked her what she was wearing (as you do - I always do this nowadays because I know it'll bug me forever if I don't).

Turned out to be Armani Diamonds.

I tried some on my arm and it was okay; like pleasant deodorant smell. Somehow that girl made it sing. It was a hot and sweaty day and the scent radiated around her very beautifully.

I'm only pulling faces because I generally approach over-advertised celeb scents with caution. I do own some though, so I know occasionally there are pleasant surprises.

Please tell me that some of you have had this kind of experience?

This is a very good idea for a thread. I know I should hate Fantasy but something about it is really attractive, it smells like cupcakes and I LOVE cupcakes.

Well, I rediscovered 5th Avenue about a year ago on the mother of one of my son's classmates. I recall thinking, "She smells great, and I know that classic scent. Could it be 'Envy'?" But it was 5th Avenue. And I now own some. And like it. It's an old school shampoo-ey, soapy, aldehydic thing.

Speaking of Elizabeth Arden, I also kind of like 'Pretty'.

5th Avenue isn't too bad actually. I used to work for Elizabeth Arden ages ago, so I tend to avoid the Arden scents because they take me back to being behind the counter

I like EA fragrances too the clerks at two P/x es (military department store)were always very kind ! 5th avenue is on my To buy list.
Which do you like Hillare, Pretty or Pretty cologne ? They have slightly different notes.I've got the cologne.
