Parfums De Nicolai.

I am looking for a Parfums De Nicolai that I can't live without. The notes and descriptions of Vanille Intense, Vanille Tonka, Maharanhi and Sacrebleu look good. I am leaning towards Sacrebleu and Maharanhi. What do you think? I like heavy scents with vanilla, tonka, and incense. If it helps I am one of the devoted who likes See's bon bons. It is so hard to choose. I think I may have to sample these rather than resort to blind buy tactics.

All on your list are rich and heady.

Well Sacrebleu is more fruity, I wouldn't say incense.

Vanille Tonka is rich dirty vanilla and will fit your bill to a T. Not sweet in the lease.

Vanilla Intense have to admit never actually tried.

Maharanhi, I have sampled and if I remember it made me think potpopuri(sp). I seemed to get alot of orange from it.

I actually own Maharajah which for me is darker deeper more like an Indian spice market. Or rather what I imagine one would smell like. I love Indian food so have eaten in restaurants.

Vanille Intense is very immortelle-laden; attractive,I like it a lot.

I think, though-
As a guy who adores a good chypre-
That Le Temps D'Une Fete would really be a 'can't live without'...!

Yes! I agree with Chaya completely. This is also my own "I can't -live-without" Nicolaï.

I was surprised at how much i really liked Vanille-Tonka. It has a very zingy top note of lime, then the frankincense becomes a layer of dryness for everything to lie down upon. A very non-gourmand vanilla, the only kind I can stand. I would call this a mid-heavyweight. The Vanille Intense is denser and "chewier".

Anyone who is familiar with my posts knows that this is the house that has disappointed me the most during the upheaval with the new regs. I would have said that Odalisque & Sacrebleu were on their way to becoming "one of the greats". Now that Odalisque has lost floral notes and Sacrebleu has lost fruit notes and both have lost incense notes, I would try Maharajah. It is a lavender vanilla with more than a nod to Jicky edp.
