Why, Whitney, why?!

Why the hell did she go on tour again?!

She is but a mere shadow of her former self,
hell, not even that much, she can't sing anymore!
She should never have went on this tour, but have
let us remember her, as she was in her prime;
the best freaking singer in the World!
This tour is an abomination, it's down right em-
barresing. Can't she see that?! Or is she really
that conceited and narcissistic ... or high?!
If not, she must be in serious financial problems,
to even considder going on tour.

I have a couple of friends, who is going to see her
when she come to CPH, they wanted me to join
them, now I'm happy I didn't buy a ticket ... damn!

These two clips are live from Brisbane, AUS, in 2010,
there are several other clips where these came from!

Oh dear- Duckie. I am 'old' enough to remember Whitney at her very best. Oh well ...now I feel old too !

In contrast to Whitney's recent performance of "I will always love you"

I now present an 11 year old Taiwanese boy.

Well, she doesn't have that kid's voice, but at least she's escaped some tragic hair and mono-brow.

This Whitney sounds like she's been beaten up and put through a tumble drier. There is such a thing as graceful retirement, but celebrities don't seem to understand this.

Won't it be fun to see Lady Gaga in forty years, tottering on Alexander McQueen heels and singing "Love Game" to an audience that is either deeply embarrassed for her or is desperately trying to revitalize some long-dead period in their youth, while the youth of those years look on and laugh. Ah... nostalgia.

Me too, hon, well ... I was about 7 years old when 'I Wanna Dance ...' was new,
but still, I remember!

OMG, that chubby little Taiwanese boy is adorable!

Because she's too much of a celebrity to grow, harvest and process her own Coca?

I'm feeling your pain! Ironically this picture was taken in Australia as well. When they say you can't go back, it's sooooo true (especially if you're 61 years old damn it all).

Boobs. That slick of blood is just some gory arrow shouting "See the nipple? SEE THE NIPPLE!?"

I was a fan of Whitney in her prime and still have all the albums, but "Past the sell by date" now comes to mind.

So sad...I like to remember her as in this song (my best of her when i was a teen ):

I feel sorry for Whitney. She just seems to be stumbling through her life, not even present, but she actually looks better in those clips than I expected.

At the local gig, half the audience had left by the end of the show, it was in the papers. I suppose she's bankrupt and badly needs any money she can get. This is what drugs make you - or an expensive perfume addiction

Let us hope she is not in any danger from a figure 4 leg lock from any wrestlers in Australia.
I believe Rick Flair's saggy man boobs are not caused by his age (61) but from having been about 300lbs in his early 20's
As for as being over the hill, drugs, screwing up your life, and trying to make a comeback against all odds-- made into great entertainment--- you could get The Wrestler on DVD (2008) with Mickey Rourke.--I forgot how many awards this film won.
It's a kind of Rocky Balboa with a non-Hollywood ending.

And far, far less depressing than anything we've seen or heard on this thread thus far.

Cheers,

Mario

All kidding aside it's hard to hear so many people comment on Flair's physique (talking about various articles & comment boards). To me it just boils down to age as much as anything else (this has been an issue with him for 10 years now, as he was wearing street clothes for awhile back in 2000 to get in the ring because of confidence problems). I appreciate he still wants to be in the business, needs to make a living and has to pay as much alimony in a month as some people make in a year. He's fine as on an air personality, ambassador, whatever you like. His athletic skills however are very diminished. The ability to wrestle a broom and get it over are long gone. Yet when I read his interviews he feels like he's performing like a million bucks (http://www.digitalspy.com/ustv/inter...restling .html). To me slicing your head open and bleeding buckets for no apparent reason is not "being on". On top of that a number of people have accused him of bad business transactions in the last year. As a Flair fan I'd like to just pretend it's not happening or everything is just great. At some point you start to think "are all these people wrong?" One person wrote that this Nature Boy is becoming a lot like the original (Buddy Rogers) when he was at the end of his career.

He got a very real & beautiful retirement that no pro wrestler in history has ever had or will have again. The night after Wrestlemania 24 wrestlers broke character & cried, and so did many fans watching that night. That probably sounds stupid to most folks who haven't followed or could care less for wrestling. I know there's hardly anything real about this business (which is nothing more than a bad Hollywood comedy flick these days), but for one night it was. To see it spoiled like it is now for no good reason is the really sad part. Fuel's "Leave The Memories Alone" proved to be a prophetic song. I wished he'd taken that advice.

Don't get me wrong, I'll aways still be a fan of his. However as far as I'm concerned, I prefer to just think of the Ric Flair that was, not the one that is. Just like the way I feel about wrestling itself!

(BTW, where in the hell else could there be a thread about Whitney Houston & Ric Flair all rolled into one ?!)

ummm, actually I found the "I will always love you" Brisbane performance much better than I was expecting based on press. She's been off the road a loooong time and people forget that a lot of her "in your prime " videos were NOT recorded live- thay are lip-synced. A lot of her early work was way over-produced and no artist would actually be able to to recreate the songs note-for note. That said, it is very sad that she overused drugs and had she not, she would certainly have lived up to the "greatest singer reputation"
she would have been better doing a TV special where she could pace herself and be shown in a light which would please her old fans and not make the potential new ones ask WTF?

True enough! Most people know it's choreographed.

Though not as much as they might think. Especially when egos and tempers get out of hand.

Moreover something is wrong in a "sport" that after 70+ years, NO ONE has yet figured out that they shouldn't leave metal folding chairs in the front row

So call it an exhibition, if you want to, folks--but the players can and do get hurt more often ad more seriously than in any "legitimate" professional sport. Yes, car racers die and boxers may end up talking like Rocky for real--at the age of 23 from one blow too many but--

I quote Rourke from working on The Wrestler as to how he changed his attitude:

At first he spoke on personal concern and hesitance of being in a movie about wrestling, for he perceived it as being "prearranged and prechoreographed"

However, as he trained for the film, he developed an appreciation and respect for what real-life pro wrestlers do to prepare for the ring:

I kept getting hurt. I think I had three MRIs in two months because I wasn't landing right. These guys take several years to learn how to land and I think after I started getting hurt doing it, I started to realize these guys are really suffering and I kind of gained a respect for their sport.\t

We now return to Whitney Houston land--Before I get started on how Charlotte Church screwed up her voice with cigarettes

Mercy!
