Only one problem: George "Beau" Brummell was very adamant against
any perfumes, as he saw it a foppish affectation of the old 18th century brocade-rouge-and-lace man. He believed that frequent bathing and clean linen was enough. In fact, he was quite neurotic about this, including his shaving, in which he'd pluck out any hairs the razor missed.
Thank goodness it look a Frenchman, of all people, the Comte d'Orsay, to say it was OK for men to use scent...or even bathe in it.
