How would you describe Creed Millesime Imperials drydown?

I think Himalaya has a musky dry down, but I just don't know how to explain the smell of MI's drydown. What is the smell you get from MI after it dries down? The basenotes on Creed's site say musky, woody, and marine notes, but I think I'm missing the musky/woody part. How would you describe the drydown?

You can read the reviews on Millesime Imperial and see how basenoters describe it overall including the drydown.

I agree, it's mostly downhill ambergris once it reaches drydown.

So that's what ambergris smells like? Old spice has it in it's basenotes(or it had it according to basenotes) but there is too much in Old Spice for me to know what would it smell like alone. The drydown smell was so weird to me and I didn't know what it was. Thanks!

A little hard for me to describe, but it's common in many Creeds. It's not a note that is very desirable on its own. A little sour and waxy maybe...

I've smelled it as an isolated note and it's odd stuff. Not disgusting or as potent as civet, but you wouldn't want to smell like that and that alone.

To my knowledge, most of the use of ambergris in frags is to extend and enhance the other notes.

It's interesting how Ambergris works like that!
