Hello Everyone!

Hey there, new to Basenotes, just started taking an appreciation of fragrances about a month ago. Here's what I got.

Ralph Lauren - Safari
Versace - Blue Jeans
Diesel - Green
Gucci - Pour Homme II (By far my most favourite fragrance)

Anyone got any good web links for fragrance jargon or word-meanings? Because I'm looking at the reviews now and I don't understand jack-all about what some words mean e.g. Frougere, Sillage etc.

Anyway, nice to meet you guys!

Great to meet you, too! I have Gucci PH II as well - an awesome scent.

A great place to search for the full story on perfume words is Perfume Shrine: http://perfumeshrine.com/. Check it out. Not just the definition, but the history as well. Amazing resource for us fragrance heads.

Welcome to Basenotes!

Nice to have another New Zealander on board (I have family in Christchurch - it's a fantastic country). Welcome.

going back to the fragrance jargon comment...i think itd be a really good idea if someone made a whole list of them and their definitions and put them in this forum to be Sticky-ed

I'm hoping that Grant gets the wiki going here. That would be the perfect place for such stuff. I've seen small bits and pieces of wiki software coming and going in the profile and the header, so I'm hoping this is a sign of features to come. (Not sure about everybody, but there is a number for "Wiki contributions" in my profile, and I assume that vBulletin has some sort of wiki stuff built into it).

That will be excellent, Basenotes having some sort of definitions/jargon list where people can go and reference! Perfect idea
