Carven Intrigue for me -- a floral in the classical tradition, right up my alley today.

First off...THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU to THALIA...who put me onto Keiko Mecheri's sample program.

LADIES!! (Gents too - lots of these fumes are eminently uni-sex) for a mere $65 clams you get 2.5 ml each of all 31 of her scents in three elegant grey "linen" bound coffers with blotter strips included. And that includes postage!!

I was gonna do a thread - and a Mecheri every day for a month - but I've got houseguests coming for the next couple of weeks so that wouldn't work.

Today it's a beautiful soft leather with some citrus and flowers over amber called
A Fleur de Peau.

Luvvin' it. Even more, the guileless and charming copy: "An olfactive impression of a fine piece of leather skin. The fragrance adorns an animalic sensuality in departure harmonized in suppleness with a floral accord"

Couldn'ta said it better myself!!

Hello everyone!

It's finally warm here so I can start enjoying another new acquisition, the soft and mellow orange blossom, mimosa and honeysuckle accords of Guerlain's Aqua Allegoria Flora Nymphea. It's not exciting or ground-breaking, but it's so, so pretty and just perfect for a balmy spring day. Bees will love it.

Y'all have a wonderful day!

Wearing Guerlain With Love again ~ roses, peonies and white amber.
Am clapping my hot little hands for Twolfs latest performance of stitchery as seen in yesterdays SoTD.

Thank you, Haunani, for saying you feel the same funny illusion about control. I'm trying to embrace Taoladys wisdom about recognizing the illusion. So help me, though, I'm going to time-manage my way back into this forum. [Stomps Birky foot.]

Actiasluna, you are so right about the sturdy but bland produce trucked across continents. Heres news coverage of the Champ Elysees farmers exhibition mentioned yesterday. Those little piglet butts are screamingly adorable.

Wishing ineespenes a great anniversary celebration!

I'm off to work; SotD is Gump's Baroque Pearl. As described on the Gump's website:

Quote:
Inspired by the sensual beauty and iridescent luster of this exquisite gem, the luminous floral unfolds in layers, with top notes of exotic bergamot and mandarin giving way to shimmering orange blossom and finishing with creamy sandalwood. Like a pearl, the fragrance thrives on contact with the skin, constantly revealing new dimension and nuance.

This fragrance doesn't get me excited, for some reason, but it is very pretty!

Dawn Spencer Hurwitz Umber: Bois de Rose, on a gloomy day. I'm planning to follow up with the insurance company today on claims that were processed incorrectly. Wish me luck & a calm demeanor.

Happy Anniversary to Inees & her BF!

Anyone else watch LOST! last night? What did you think?

Wearing CDG Stephen Jones again. It's amazing how different this is in hot weather. I'd been sampling in the chill and it was positively unfriendly (which I adore), but in the heat it is almost sociable! It's like watching someone come out of their shell at the office party!

Haunani, yes, the bottle (and packaging) is just too lovely isn't it! I'd thought it was going to be black black, but the glass is almost a cool dark grey when held to the light.

Taolady, Oooh, the big box of Mecheri! You go!

The last drops from my sample of...

Good morning from Canada on our Victoria Day holiday Monday!

Today I'm in Arpege EDT, and it's glorious. I wore it many moons ago (please don't ask how many!). Now I remember why I wore it, and I've fallen in love with it all over again. Perfect for either dressy or simply with tee shirt & jeans.

It seems to be a sillage monster, or maybe it's because I can bathe in it at home?

Happy Monday all.

Happy anniversary Ines, 5 years and many more happy ones to follow.

Libertine, you are now Candy Perfume Boy. I loved your prior name, made me think of the Johnny Depp movie Now I will just have to think of you in fragrance, serving me candy...well that is quite pleasant.

Today I am wearing Crescendo by Lanvin and will probably wear it tonight also.

Last few day s have been wearing; Creation by Lapidus, Mon Classique by Moribito, Lutece and Demi-Jour by Houbigant, Poison by Dior and Clair de Jour by Lanvin. I was on a veritable 80's fragrance journey.

Hope the week will be wonderful for all.

Hugs

Happy Anniversary Ineespenes!

Good luck with the Ins. Co RHM.

Today I started out inspired by LGD to wear Chanel No. 19.

Noonish, I switched to a "tester" of my own never to be duplicated version of an apprentice scentmakers' "suicide"... labeled KH1 ... just to see how the froth of unrecorded ingredients wore on me (never, ever, tinker with your home-made scents by adding a drop of this and a drop of that without writing down the proportions!). Not even close to nasty, but not a scent with any cohesion. Heh. Why? Well, it has bergamot, lavender, musk, rose, muguet, "ozone", oakmoss, "cologne accord", geranium, but in what measure? Beats me! It's kind of an aquatic citrus floral with foresty undertones, in other words another "hot mess." LOL Think I'll get a fancy bottle, dilute it down a little more, and send it to my niece for her HS graduation! (one of a kind! My aunt made it!)

This afternoon I received a bottle of Annayake Miyako, so am now wearing a virtual kimono of Japanese incense accurately rendered, and love, love, loving it!

Inees, Happy Anniversary!

RHM, sorry about that insurance stuff, and yes -- I did watch the finale of Lost. (And I'm still scratching my head and feeling sad at the same time.)

I'm in AL China Pearl today.

TF Velvet Gardenia today. Feeling like something tropical tonight, so I think it shall be SL Datura Noir.

Fragrance & assorted updates: SOTE is Xeroff's ELLE parfum (from a sample) I "just" put this on but so far I like it but I really want to get to the "woody amber" drydown & see what that's all about.

I spent a great deal of time with an insurance rep going over claims. I still don't feel as if she really understood that they had processed an in network claim, as an out of network one but we'll see how it goes.

LOST is a weird show, some good actors though.

I'm on my 2nd day with Acqua Fiorentina by Creed. This is the perfect scent for this time of year. It's really lovely and I'm glad that it smells good pre-scrubbin.

The longevity of A Fleur de Peau is a-MAAAA-zing! Still smelling club chair leather in a bouquet filled room after 12 hours!!

Gonna throw on some Feuilles de Tabac and go to bed with some naughty thoughts.....

Le Grand Duc and Roberto, I totally agree on Edition Blanche. It's a great one.

It was Creed Erolfa for me today.

I can't seem to get enough of this one.

After a 12 hour workday and a quick stop at the grocery store on the way home, I'm happy to be relaxing by reading everyone's posts. Y'all smelled fabulous today.

SOTD was Gala de Dia by Loewe very lovely, and tenacious. I could still smell it on my skin a good 9 hours after application and that is very rare for me.
Just switched to Y EDT Just got a back-up bottle so plan to spray with abandon, as I'm not worried about running out now.

I'm planning to watch LOST finale on the internet this week....
