I went to the Hermes boutique today to try out some fragrances from the Hermessence range, and while waiting for the SA to get me some samples (they give out rather long vials of samples!), I decided to try out some of the fragrances from their non-leather clad range :P
I managed to spritz some test strips with Terre d'Hermes pure perfume, Equipage and Bel Ami before the SA came back and started talking about the Hermessence line. Due to this distraction, I totally forgot which test strips carried which scents.
When I was walking back to my car, I sniffed all 3 papers again, and immediately identified Terre d'Hermes, which I think is nice but did not excite me. Then from the two remaining ones, I picked up a really gorgeous leather note, which was exactly what I'd been looking for. I love Eau D'Hermes, but it's a little too strong for normal use, and Eau Sauvage Fraicheur Cuir really is a citrus with a hint of leather, ie. not enough! The scent I picked up from the test strip was basically a somewhat toned down version of Eau D'Hermes with a more equal blend of citrus and leather.
However, when I checked the note pyramid for both Equipage and Bel Ami here, none of them lists a leather note! So, can someone who has both these fragrances tell me which one am I looking for?
PS. About the Heressence samples, I picked up Ambre Narguille and Veitver Tonker. I immediately fell in love with Ambre Narguille... But why is it so expensive??!!
