I'm feeling adventurous and in the mood for a blind buy...I'm thinking either:

-Domenico Caraceni 1913
-Ormonde Jayne Man (or something else from Ormonde Jayne)
-decant of Vintage Tabarome

Any recs between the three? I unfortunately can't sample any of these in the NYC area. I'm looking for something that's "all purpose", so to speak. Elegant, but not overly formal. Suitable for work (in a suit or sport coat) and also afterwork gatherings. Should also be functional for warmer weather, though it doesn't necessarily have to be a "summer" scent. Any thoughts?

imho, DC 1913 fits in to your needs 100%. Ormonde Jayne Man would be lil heavy from the woodsy perspective for daily use...however, it's a darn good scent too.

I voted for vintage Tabarome. It reminds of Casa Blanca.

It's like you are looking for something that would instantly have brought 1913 to my mind, even without you mentioning it.

Cool, semi - formal, elegant, dark, just amazing stuff.

Update: I ended up going with the DC1913 and it fits the bill perfectly! I did manage to secure a decant of Ormonde Jayne from a generous BN'er as part of a trade. While nice, I do find it a bit heavy for daily wear as Jenson suggested. One of these days I'll try the Vintage Tabarome.
