Fresh, Light, Watery, Green, Unisex

Describes everything I want in a fragrance. The only thing that has ever captured that feeling for me is Mugler Cologne. I am such a huge fan, and I was wanting to explore more within that territory. I'm not exactly the most masculine guy in the world, so I prefer more of a unisex smell. I would love to get some samples from eBay, so if you guys could name some fragrances that I could get some samples of from eBay, I'd really really appreciate it!

Right now my buying list is:

- FCUK Him
- Blue Sugar
- Virgin Island Water by Creed

I love sweet, but more of a light sweet... I'm not a fan of gourmands (thats the correct spelling right?), like Angel Men, Rochas Man, or Gaultier3.

Are any of the CLEAN fragrances good? I got the CLEAN Simply Soap and I have never smelled something so horrible in my life. It smelled like cheap plastic gone wrong.

I was thinking about getting samples of:

- Terre d'Hermès
- CLEAN Men

Thanks so much. I love this board, everyone is so respectful and nice so I very much look forward to gaining insight on the world of fragrance from here!

Check out Un Jardin Sur Le Nil by Hermes.

Clean Men smells like a really good shower, with some woodsy notes to it.

Mugler Cologne is nice and clean. it has a more mellow soapy feel (compared to prada amber)

Check out the reviews of Prada Amber PH. To me it smells like very expensive soap.

I love sampling on ebay as well. The part that can be irritating is that there aren't always samples available for some of the great frags out there. For
example, Tom Ford Grey Vetiver could be something that you might enjoy. However, I didn't see any samples on ebay. Even a mini bottle was selling
for about 20 dollars. So guess what, I end up blind buying a tester for 58 dollars. The good news is that I actually intend to use this one, and not just
let it gather dust like so many others in my collection. I would like to recommend some samples that I believe are often seen in ebay auctions:

Zegna Colonia- You might like this sweet, but not overly sweet, citrusy wood
Paul Smith Story- Another take on a green frag that is at least sampling. Seems to be a love/hate frag.
Marc Jacobs- A sweet fig scent

For a super clean smell check out Gendarme. For green and unisex check out Kenzo Power.

You mentioned Terre d'Hermes. It's an excellent fragrance, and you may like it, but it doesn't fit your description at all. It's pretty masculine, dry, and earthy. Not like wet mud, but like dusty orange peel.
If you like Mugler, you will like Gendarme. But I think that owning both of these might be pointless.

If you're thinking of trying more of Clean's offerings, don't miss Outdoor Shower Fresh. (That's the new one in the light green bottle.) It's green, aquatic, fresh, and light at least - whether it's too feminine or not will depend on your perception, I guess. It is a little bit sweet, but the bergamot ameliorates that, and it's not particularly soapy. Nothing to be done about the silly name.

Two fragrances that fit your description to a T are: Calvin Klein Man and Azzaro Now.

They are both very good, but I found Now to be excellent (Turin also gives it 4/5 stars in The Guide). It has a wonderful green rose note throughout, along with tea and some soft spices (nutmeg is listed, I also get cinnamon) and an amazing lychee note. It dries down to a very very light mossy smell along with a light leather/suede note. It is very airy and green throughout - fresh, soft, smooth, suave.

edit: While I really light Prada Amber, it's neither light, watery, or green. I've tried most of the scents listed here as recommendations and I think Azzaro Now fits better your desired attributes better than most.

L'Artisan L'Eau de Jatamansi is exactly what this thread title specifies.

Bulgari Eau Parfumée au Thé Verte might be perfect for you. Also worth sampling for their various takes on watery, green, and fresh are Fleurs de Sel, Heeley's Sel Marin, Thé pour une Été, Comme des Garçons Calamus, Magnolia Romana, and Fleur de Liane.

I can't believe I forgot these. You need definitely need to check out Ineke Derring Do and Hermes Hiris.
I'll add Issey Miyake's A Scent and Chanel's Cristal Eau Verte.

Here are more you might try that I really like in the Fresh/Light/Watery/Green/Unisex category:

Angelique Sous la Pluie - green with vetiver, peppers and angelique flower.
Eau d' Sisley #2 - green, watery with spring florals.
Paul Smith Story - vetiver, ivy, verbena.
Atelier Tefle Pur - a green clover eau d' cologne.
L' Eau de L' Artisan - a light green watery citrus eau de cologne in a very transparent style.
Sel d' Vetiver by the Different Co. - grapefruit, vetiver in an aquatic ocean scent that is sort of salty.
Mugler Cologne - the old standby for this kind of thing - very green vetiver with a bit if soapiness.

Thanks everyone! I've added most of these to my eBay buy list and will be purchasing soon.

Also, does anyone know any good bamboo fragrances? I just sprayed some of the Slatkin & Co "Bamboo room spray" from Bath & Body Works and I would love a fragrance with the same type of smell. Any suggestions?

I think that Eau de Lalique fits your description of Fresh, Light, Watery, Green, and Unisex perfectly while also being on the dry side rather than sweet. It can be found cheap as well.

1. Eau d'Orange Verte
2. Bleecker Street

A cheaper alternative to Un Jardin is Paradox Green by Jacomo, it has green written all over it and is such a hidden gem. FCUK Him, is just horrible, nasty soapy and extremely chemical smelling, and Blue Sugar (which I love) is anything but green... not only is it a gourmand, but it makes A*Men look like a wuss, it's one of the sweetest gourmands I've ever smelled.

I would say check out Paradox Green which can be found very cheap online. Also GIT and Cool Water perhaps

Anchoring around Mugler Cologne, you may want to try out:

Eau de Paco Rabanne pour Homme - green lavender/vetyver. Drydown so similar to MC's.
Theorema Uomo - Fendi - green, green, green and light (dont let the light blue colour sway you)

+1. This was the first thing that came into my mind also.

I saw the thread title and instantly thought of Calvin Klein's Eternity. Not sure if it counts as unisex, but it's definitely not an uber-macho scent (most aquatics aren't, really). Bonus: it's moderately priced and can be found anywhere.

Monsieur Eau du Matin by Jean Paul Gaultier hasn't been mentioned yet. It is to my nose quite similar to Mugler Cologne and seems to fit your requirements well.
+1 on A Scent by Issey Miyake.

Add Bright Visit by Azzaro.

Ferre Bergamotto Marino its a big hit if you like muglers cologne

If you don't mind some citrus in your green, try Eau de Cartier by Cartier and Live Jazz by YSL
post #28 of 42
You are talking about CK ONE: Fresh, Light, Watery, Green, Unisex
post #29 of 42
Eau de Cartier is a great bamboo. Look for the original version, not the concentree.
If you like Mugler than Creed Original Vetiver kicks it up a few notches in quality and is quite classy and light. It's unisex and I am constantly complimented on it.

Green Water; Jacques Fath
Try the regular clean for men despite harsh reviews it's actually quite nice mildly sweet shower smell. I have two bottles. Also try un jardin la mousson much better then sur le nil because it last much longer but just a hint of spice in their. Also try essence pure by St dupont it's a clean fresh light woodsy smell
post #37 of 42
For watery, green: +1 CdG Calamus, Hermes Un Jardin sur le Nil
post #38 of 42
"Fresh, Light, Watery, Green, Unisex" - The first scent that popped into my head was Fou d'Absinthe by L'Artisan Parfumeur.
Voyage Hermes
I tested this a while ago.

Check out "Green Water" by Jacques Fath - discontinued but still shows up. Smells like it's name, with a strong mint note.
