How to recognize vintage Dolce Vita?

I've saw that Luca Turin says that the original Dolce Vita was a great variation on the Feminite du Bois theme, and that the actual one smells like cherries au marasquino. I've tried to find the old version of Dolce Vita, since I have the recent one and I love, so the old makes me curious to try. But i cannot find a clue of how was the first Dolce Vita. What are the differences on bottle and package between the new and old one?

Hi Rickbr. I thought Turin was a little harsh on this one. The EdT is still very good.

I don't know what the original EdT smelled like, but I do have a bottle of the parfum, which I assume is vintage and the original formula. It's hard to tell to what extent the difference is of intensity (parfum v. EdT) than of composition, but the original was a bit sharper, woodier and spicier. The new one is sweeter and more floral, with the woods remaining in the background.

I'm not sure how you'd tell the difference between an old and a new EdT in terms of packaging, though. Color, perhaps? The new EdT is a fairly pale yellow, while the parfum is a pretty intense gold.

I had a thread like this some time ago.

The vintage has the text on the bottom printed directly onto the flacon,
whereas the modern one has the text on a mere sticker - I believe!

The modern one is quite good, but nowhere near the sillage MONSTER
the original DV was!

I have both!

And can I reconize the old one from the package?

Unfortunately!

I have two fairly elderly bottles of Dolce Vita and they both have the printing directly on the bottom of the bottle, as LGD says. Now I'll have to go to Perfumania to check the tester there to see if there's a sticker--I'm intrigued!

Old thread I see.. Well anyways, I had no Idea that this had changed formula, thought ive been wearing this since 97. Luckily I have a stock home, gotta check the last purchase, If it has a sticker :/ . Guess thatll go on sale then. Kinda wondering how bad the reformulation is, If I would have noticed. This forum is Ã* goldmine of information!

The way I chose my vintage DV was to look for the writing etched into the glass on the base of the bottle - ie no sticker. Most sellers were happy to oblige and give me the info

Good info.
