As the greatest armada ever assembled in history set forth from the English coast, and into the "Great Crusade" Brave men, and women handled the task at hand with great bravery, and determination. You are not forgotten. You were I believe the turning point of the 20th. century. You were truly the greatest generation. Thank you

D-Day 6th June 1944. Thank you for freedom in Europe,thank you for the sacrifices that freed POWs and the world. Forever remembered and thankful .


Many of my family were prisoners of war,tortured, some died and so today is poignant.

I was named after my father's oldest brother, who was shot down over France during the invasion. I still get chills when I see video footage of the ships crossing the English Channel. It's absolutely surreal.

The sheer magnitude of the Normandy landing (and WWII in general) is absolutely mindblowing. I hope humanity never has to go through something like that again.
