Has a fragrance "stained" your skin?

As many here on Basenotes, I sample & wear alot of fragrances. I had previously noticed dark spots between my fingers & a small streak on my neck. I just brushed that off & though nothing of it. Recently I noticed dark spots on my arms where I had dabbed from a sample vial of a certain cologne (sorry, I won't name names, all I can say is that the "juice" is baby blue in color). Maybe I applied too much??? I have only noticed this from dabbing fragrances & not from spraying like my regular frags. Is this common? has this happened to you??

That never happened to me, but my shirts do get stained.

I've never noticed stained clothes or skin - I haven't tried anything blue, though.

Never stained anything - I have used Blu by Bruno Acampora which is blue in color but it fades on contact with skin.
Could it be a reaction with sun exposure at all ?

My shirts got stained from wearing cologne every day over the period of a year, nothing overnight.

for your skin, is something reacting? Like do you use sunless tanner?

Well from this most recent occurence, I do remember it being a hot day. In the lower 90's. + I was out & about so sun exposure might have something to do with it. I will keep that in mind, thanx

I never noticed any type of reactions & I don't use tanners at all, just regular Aveeno lotion

Some of the chemicals/essential oils utilized in scents can increase one's photosensitivity (sensitivity to light). I have a feeling that this may be what happened - the chemicals increased the sensitivity of the skin where you applied and the skin absorbed more light there, hence becoming more tanned.

I'd avoid applying scent on any open skin when you're going to be getting any significant amount of sun exposure. Hope that helps!

I think that's likely what happened too. Bergamot in particular can cause skin darkening. See the precautions listed on this page: http://www.essentialoils.co.za/essen...s/bergamot.htm
