help me find a trusty fragrance to wear for a long time...

i'm often jealous when i hear people say "I've been wearing it for 20 years". i 'm looking for something similar. of course not a one and only scent but something to keep coming back to. of course it has to be designer and almost always widely available. like for example guerlain vetiver/habit rouge. although i don't know how guerlain sold their frags pre lvmh. they are very easy to come by now. jicky not so easy. so mainstream best selelrs from ysl, hermes, dior, chanel, guerlain are all good. i don't mind modern if those are easier to come by years from now but maybe classics that have always been sold although reformulated will be better especially as i myself age. HELP!

I understand that you're looking for a signature fragrance. The thing is, the more you sample, the more you want to sample, and your journey to find the one and only fragrance will be slowed down.

I recommend you try : A*MEN by Thierry Mugler, Body Kouros by YsL, Burberry London by Burberry, Terre D'Hermes by Hérmes
In my opinion these have potential for a signature.

A signature fragrance is good - if you can "muster the strength" to devote your love to your chosen one and be faithful to it, something I find myself unable to do when it comes to fragrances...
Some great frags though:
Cuir de Russie by Chanel
Grey Flannel by Geoffrey Beene
Insensé by Givenchy
YSL pour Homme (from 1971)
paco Rabanne pour Homme (1973)
Cologne by Thierry Mugler (2001) ...
and, one of my personal all-time-favourites:
Eau Sauvage by DIOR!

Why not just try a ton of different fragrances and choose for yourself? Don't dedicate yourself to finding that one fragrance to always wear. Have fun with this hobby. Your tastes will develop and a fragrance you like one day may be insignificant soon after.

I say Platinum Egoiste by Chanel.

Its my sig scent and I will never be without it. Its fresh and elegant at the same time, it can be worn all year long and longevity
and sillage are both great on it. Give it a try if you havent already. Gets a ton of compliments also!

Very nice list. I'd add YSL Kouros to it.

Guerlain Vetiver or Habit Rouge

The obvious choice to me seems Guerlain's Vetiver.

For some reason, as soon as I read 'trusty', I thought Grey Flannel.

For me, I'd say Chanel no. 19. It's a classic that will not go out of style.
