SOTD Thursday 10 JUNE 2010

Thread Starter
Good morning all my bright-eyed fragrant bunnies. I am still "awake", so I thought I would start the SOTD, which I have not done in ages.

I am wearing Elizabeth Taylor's Passion and am finding it to be L-O-V-E-L-Y. I think later in the day I will be trying out White Diamonds also. As you can tell, I have become curious as to why mama enjoys these sooooo much and am now a convert.

Hope the near-end to a work week is finding everyone in great spirits and healthy dispositions.

Good vibes and hugs to all.

Big hug to Pomander, I missed you sweety. I hope I will be seeing you chez moi next month.

Here too. So test driving KM's Grenats. "...Pomegranate, symbol of succulent temptation (sic!) The perfume is exquisitely fresh in departure (?) then it reveals a floral heart of pale wild roses (don't you LUV it??!!) blooming in musky notes."

I hope they never re-write the copy in this beautiful little booklet that comes with the coffret.

Honestly.

Good Morning !

Thanks for the nod Brielle87...I l really look forward to seeing you again at next months meet-up !!! And now that I've read your post and recommendation for the Taylor scent, I will seek it out (I think I saw it at Marshalls) for a test. Thanks!

Novis2007 - You are wearing one of my all time favorites (Hermes - Caleche)...You smell divine !

Today I'm wearing the hopelessly sensual Guerlain Rose Barbare. It's classified as a floral chypre...I experience it as an envelope of dark, slightly musty (in a good way) roses and wine.

Have a great day all!
Today I'm wearing Eau d'Italie's Magnolia Romana.
Flowerbomb EDP. It seemed like a good idea this morning.....not so much now.

Next fragrant bunny checking in … Hope it doesn't turn into a scorcher summer.
Thought I'd better wear hubby's favorite since I haven't done that in a while: Black Vetyver Cafe + Sel de Vetiver.
Hello everyone!

I needed to take a break from all the new scents I've been sniffing and testing, and I reached in the back and grabbed Gianni Versace, the old one from 1981. I've worn this wonderfully lush and soapy, rich and mossy chypre for a long time, but I never noticed until today its resemblance to two other fragrances that I have. As I live and breathe, Gianni Versace is the love child of Mystere and Ivoire! Naturally, it would have to be incredible.

Top notes - aldehydes, spices, fruity notes and bergamot
Middle notes - carnation, tuberose, gardenia, orris root, jasmine, lily-of-the-valley and narcissus
Base notes - benzoin, leather, sandalwood, amber, patchouli, oakmoss, incense and myrrh

Y'all have a fantastic day!

Iris Bleu Gris by Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier

I wore No. 19 vintage parfum by yesterday, and when I sprayed the MPG on today I was reminded of that same crisp, fizzy, iris in the top notes. Anyone else notice a similarity in these two?

I meant to continue my alphabetical frag rotation with Keiko Mecheri's Grenats, but while I was pawing through the sample sprays I hit another Keiko that I hadn't even tried yet and couldn't resist. So instead I'm in Keiko Mecheri Datura Blanche. Heady, distinctive, and almondy -- all three of the newer Keiko scents I've tried have been very nice. It's not quite as narcotic/sexy as Serge Lutens' Datura Noir, to me -- I think because it's cool instead of overheatedly tropical -- but it actually has more power and projection than the Lutens on my skin. I do think the almond plays up a particular facet of the datura scent that I really like, a piercing sappy/ivy kind of edge to it.

I love how generous the KM sample spray are -- at 2 mls each, I'll be wearing my little collection quite a bit!

Today I am wearing Délices de Cartier Eau de Parfum, a 10ml gift from Nordstroms. It's very different from any thing I own, fruity and kinda reminds me of Miss Dior Cherie (berries), but I like this better. Délices seems more sophisticated than Miss Dior Cherie. Looking forward to finishing my 10mls and become more familiar with this frag, but not sure I would spend the dough to own a full bottle.

Have a beautiful day!

TF Noir de Noir. I've been testing the sample that I received from a TF rep at Neimans. This is some good stuff! I think it may be FB worthy for sure.

Marc Chagall, 1913

Lubin - Nuit de Longchamp
Dusky aldehydes meld with soft florals and gently soothe the soul.
Is there such a thing as an intellectual perfume?
This scent seems to open up the mind to new possibilities.
I feel crisp, sharp and agile as a cat in a window!

Top notes are nutmeg, Sicilian bergamot,
Tunisian orange blossom and cardamom;
middle notes are iris, jasmine, Turkish rose and ylang-ylang;
base notes are labdanum, tolu balsam, Peru balsam, sandalwood,
patchouli, laburnum, Tahitian vetiver and oak moss.

Ce Soir Ou Jamais! It's unusual for me to wear this in warm weather; for me this is more of a fall/winter scent, but it called out to me this morning.
Sissi by Marc de la Morandiere, a beautiful full throttle floral scent. At first I wasn't sure how I felt about it, but then it was cool and rainy. It has blossomed mightily during the warmth of the day!
Serge Lutens Daim Blond today.
Today I'm wearing Costes from a small travel bottle I own. It reminds me a little of 10 Corso Como. I'll have to compare the notes!
Another day I will spend glued to my laptop. I ran to it first thing in the morning, expecting students to have tech issues and needing me to reset their tests. Yep, there was some of that, but thankfully not as much as I thought it would be! So, TMI, I know, no shower for me yet, so I cautiously dabbed some samples to try on before I shower. Honey and the Moon by Tokyo Milk, I thought, would be a real winner, since I love everything honey, but no, it smells more like a raspberry jam tart on me. Not what I bargained for as they say
On my other arm is Victoria Secret Very Sexy Now the Beauty of Brazil. I do not like coconut laden "tropical" perfumes, at least I haven't met one I liked yet.

I am not the journey to test some complex scents, and the ones I am wearing right now cannot be described as complex. But I am too bored to work when I don't wear anything! I'll be checking in with some Chanels later.

Scent of the Day was
Miss Dior Chérie

Tonight I'm sampling two of the
Les Exclusifs de Chanel;
31 Rue Cambon and N°22.

31 is fab, very sweet and innocent.
But N°22 is my new obsession.
Aldehyde galore ... and a drydown
to die for, so sweet and delish..!
Ooh, Le Grand Duc, I love Miss Dior Cherie.

I hope everyone's having a lovely day. I'm testing Juliette Has A Gun's Lady Vengeance which is a nice rose / patchouli scent. I think Citizen Queen is better, though.

Petra, what a nice picture! Along with your description it made me want to try this perfume!
Oh, I like being called a bright-eyed fragrant BUNNY, Briella!!

Today I'm in Paco Rabanne METAL.
Marketing description: "It has notes of greens, woodsy aromas, combined with rose and low notes of metal." I really do smell the metal. It's not a conceptual metal, but an actual -- I do some silversmithing and I can detect in Metal the exact scent of slightly tarnished silver.

Thalia is making that Datura blanche sound nice, I'll have to revisit my sample.
And kumquat -- I definitely could find a place for a scent that makes me smarter!!

I've been absent and have missed a lot of birthdays -- happy belated birthday, to all the birthday girls!
With all your thoughts on another thread I am craving Dune all of a sudden. We have been having rain all morning long.

Will have to settle for something else instead -- more Jolie Madame? Love in Black? We'll see.
Thanks Warum! I think nearly all the Mecheri's I've tried are kittenish in some way. I imagine her meeting with her perfumers, sampling the offerings and going, "This is great, but.... MORE KITTENS!" There may even be a stamping of the Mecheri foot
post #51 of 72
*calls for dear, funny Duc* -- I managed to unstick the stopper on my Poison mini last night and wore it to dinner and bed. I forgot how absolutely beautiful it is!

This morning, I had to go for something lighter. The tradewinds stopped (ick!), and it might be a bit harsh to bust out the Poison on a warm, humid day like today.

SOTD: Hermes Kelly Caleche

I want to try that Pure Poison or Tendre Poison - possibly wearable on tropical summer days, do you think? Hmmmm...I have a list as long as my arm of things to try!

Hugs all!
Pure Poison is very demure and wearable in hot weather, IMO. It reminds me a little of White Linen, but less aggressively CLEAN AND STARCHED.

OMG -- "More Kittens!" is brilliant. May I use it as a sig? We'll be getting an actual kitten in the next few weeks, so it's very apropos. Mmmmm, new-kitten smell ...
Everyone is smelling gorgeous this afternoon! I'm in Barbara Bui again, partly because I was too lazy to decide. Take care, all.
I'll be scent triplet with Warum and Duckey in a spritz of No 22. Yum.
Evening all,

I'm in Sequoia by Comme des Garcons.
So I'm in #22! Lovely!

Petra, "more kittens"! I am laughing, this is fantastic. Now I know whose samples I will be trying next, being such a huge cat person as I am. I cuddle with my cats, you know *blushes, runs away*

Nice to be scent triplets, Todd and Le Grand Duke! Perhaps, I'll go for Miss Dior Cherie in the next couple of days

Spent the day in Leonard de Leonard layered with a TINY bit of Vetiver Carven. Last time I wore this, I layered it with Yatagan as an experiment that worked in smoothing out the (new formulation) Yatagan bitterness. I love L de L on its own, but have noticed that certain scents have a sweetness on my skin that goes a little heavy, particularly when the weather is uber-humid as it was today, and the slight bitter greenness of VC tempered that sweetness. (VC doesn't have a great deal of longevity on my skin so it's the perfect Too-Sweet-Topnote-Buffer).

Projects at work have had me TIRED, but got big kudos today on one that the client described (albeit a bit ... hyperbolically?) as "1000 x better than anything he'd ever seen in a course." (granted, any effort is better than a PowerPoint deck with bullet points, but... I'll take it!) ... so I got a bit of a jump-start from that glowing comment. Clients who rave like that actually scare me a bit, if you know what I mean. The point? On a day I smelled like a rose anyway, my project came in smelling equally rosy! <grins>

I spent the day in Cadolle no. 9. What a shame this was discontinued.
