End of blind buying for me (thanks to D&G PH)

I think D&G PH is going to be the last fragrance that I've blindly purchased (based on online reviews).

The moment I sniffed this stuff, I was instantly reminded of garbage can, and beedi (cheap Indian cigaratte that smells horrible).

Now heading to wash this tragedy off my skin. I'll be 'gifting' this to a cousin who told me that he actually likes it (who encouraged me to blind buy this disaster).

Question to self: Why did it not occur to me that I could be among the small number of people who have given it a thumbs down and have called it trash?!

What a coinsidence; it's my SotD today!

I absolutely love it, amazing juice!

It could just be that this scent is associated with some bad memories in the past (someone was wearing this and smoking beedi in a train station?). I don't know, but I'm not going to stand this stuff. It's just not for me.

I rang up my cousin and I'll hand this over to him tomorrow. Oddly enough, we have many similar tastes (we both like Original vetiver, Kouros, Escada PH, BDP, PDN New York, and many more). So, I thought it should be fine to strike a blind deal, and boy I've wasted money.

... I wonder what ppl throw out in India,
if your trashcans smells as good as this
juice ... LOL!

Too bad you didn't like it, thank God it
was a semi-cheap frag, and not Creed
or something.

I think you have come away with a good lesson at least; blind buying can be a challenge and often has negative outcomes.

Different people. Different tastes. Luckily, I stopped buying blind before I had the bad-chance to waste my money.

And yes, I agree to Duc, it's a very nice juice.

Well, I'd be sure not to blind buy a creed or anything as expensive though.

With the sheer volume of love it has here, I think I should have traded it off in the market place instead of throwing it as a freebie to the cousin. But I'm sure he'll enjoy it, so I'm fine.

This again reminds me how can taste differ radically from one person to another. I just can't stand the smell of it. If you'll excuse me, I'll repeat what's been beaten to death: "For each, his own".

Yeah, I was stupid enough to blind-buy 250ml of Diors exclusive Cologne Blanche,
and I find it to be quite dull, even borderline vile ... *tsk tsk tsk*

Ouch! That should have been an expensive lesson to learn.

I actually like Cologne Blanche But I agree that it isn't that interesting, so I felt that it wasn't worth the price.

I like D&G ph. Citrus opening and velvet base. Imo a bit it's similar to Creed SMW. It was blind buy for me too. I didn't read reviews. and i didn't have any imagination about it.

I like blind buying. I just blind bought KL by Lagerfeld and absolutely love it.

You win some, you lose some. Blind buys are fraught with danger.

Personally I found D&G pour homme to be loathsome. It is vomit inducing juice for me.

don't buy blind is the lesson learned here and don't take our comments as gospel that a scent is the best.

I don't blind buy full bottles any more either. I blind buy samples, decants or minis online all the time, but not the big bottles. As for D&G, I so want to like it. I have a bottle of D&G Light Blue that I still really like, and I think a bottle of the classic D&G would look great next to it. But all I can smell from wearing D&G is the tobacco, and I just can't get into it. I don't loath it like Gupts, but I don't love it either. Certainly not enough to buy a bottle, unfortunately.

I did blind buys recently for Cumming the Fragrance and Acteur, and I'm really glad I did. If I didn't get them at reasonable prices, though, I would not have done it. I figured that I could swap them or re-sell them for a small loss perhaps. Just ask yourself how much a round of golf costs, or other fairly inexpensive hobbies. The only thing that would bother me is if I paid top dollar for a niche frag, hated it, and found it impossible to get rid of without taking a big loss. but I never even considered doing this anyway, knowing that I'd "punish" myself if it turned out badly.

After the discontinued By Man, D&G ph is the best Dolce&Gabbana's male scent.
I don't buy blind, but I try the fragrance on my skin few times.
Usually I buy big bottles (100/125 ml) because they're cheaper.

That statement makes me feel better. I was wondering if I'm the only one to be vomiting because of that haphazard smell.

I think I will also avoid blind buys for a long time to come but you never know. There are just too many fragrances that I still want to test that it would be best if I just tested them and potentially buy them rather than waste money on something that I blind bought and never wear.

"haphazard smell"

Did you mean biohazard smell? LOL.
