I was inspired by carmencanada's similarly-titled blog topic at Grain de Musc...

Sticking to the formal notion of 25 plus years, a short list (10) of your top vintages.

Mine are (and I know I don't go back very far...):

YSL Y 1964
Amouage Gold 1983
Nina Ricci L'Air du Temps (the orignal) 1948
Gres Cabochard (the original) 1959
Ungaro Diva 1983
Niki de Saint Phalle 1982
V C & A First 1976

Givenchy Gentleman (original) 1974
Nina Ricci Phileas 1984 tied with Nina Ricci Signoricci 2 197?
Sisley Eau de Campagne 1974

Sorry, please clarify: what we have got at home or what sits best on our skins?

I miss the old fragrances: Hermes Doblis, Ricci Farouche, Lancome Magie/Sikkim/Climat, many Jean Patous, Guerlain Pois de Senteur/Fleur de Feu, Caron Royal Bain, Coty La Rose Jacqueminot, Fath de Fath.

I did do what I have at home, but there is no reason it has to be stuff you have. Just the ones that impress you the most.

My favorite topic - yay!

I made it easier on myself by sticking to fragrances that are either discontinued or thoroughly ruined by reformulation (thank goodness we can still get decent bottles of Coco, Chamade and Ysatis!) and are currently in my collection.

Vent Vert - 1947
Detchema - 1953
Givenchy III - 1970
Gucci No 1 - 1974
Halston - 1975
Calvin Klein - 1978
Flora Danica - 1980
K de Krizia - 1981
Diva - 1983
Gucci No 3 - 1985

Another fun thread, Hillaire - thanks!

I don't know the exact dates of any of these, but...

Poison ( Whatever happened to my rock and roll? )
Crystalle ( What DID they do to this to make it so unrecognizable? I don't even like modern Crystalle a little. )
Vent Vert Eau de Toilette ( pre-90s - I just adore how intensely green it is. )
La Rose Jacqueminot ( From the '50s - stunningly mossy )
Rochas Femme ( from Hillaire - and what a gorgeous experience it was, though like a number of odd roses, took me a couple tried to warm up to. )

Of these, the only one I own is Poison, but I'm glad to have had the opportunity to try the others.

[B]By my criterion, if it's older than me, it's vintage.

[1969 (perhaps the greatest vintag year of all! Chamade, Azuree, O de Lancome
1962 Bal A Versailles
1953 Youth Dew
1925 Shalimar

1919Mitsouko]
...and as an honorable mention, even though it came out the year after I was born...
1971 Chanel No. 19

Well, anything by Ernest Daltroff, I admire everything but would **love** to get a vintage sample of narcisse noir, or et noir, en avion, n'aimez que moi, and alpona.

I"m leaving Guerlain out becuase I haven't come across vintage anything for them that I liked; this house needs to be used within a few years, i think. Carons hold their appeal longer.

I love and own these favorites:

Niki de Saint Phalle
Ivoire de Balmain
Chanel No. 5
Chanel Coco
Mitsouko
Coriandre
Ma Griffe
Paco Rabanne Metal
Amazone
Joy
Norell

(Oops! That's 11! Hard to narrow this list down. I'm most interested in scents from 1965 to 1982 at the moment. If any of you have recommendations for new scents for me to try from this time period, I'd love to hear them. I know there are many treasure I haven't had a chance to discover yet.)
