How does one test their skin's PH? What other personal "chemistry" factors affect your choices or decisions with fragrances? Experiences?

I'm the owner of a skin that distorts fragrances, often in a good way. I'm always asked what I'm wearing when I wear Acqua Di Gio (if you can believe it), and after I tell them, they're like : "my boyfriend also has it, and doesn't smell that good". I have oily skin, I don't know what dry-skin feels like, even if I use simple soap.

I just don't get along very well with heavy fragrances (only at parties and clubbing) and lightly applied.

Anyone know if, say,

Acidic PH skin-types work better with aquatics
Base PH skin-types work better with Chypres
Etc.
