F. Malle Lys Mediterranee. It is a bit after 5 am here and I have already made coffee and drank 2 cups.

With tart violets yesterday, I have decided on trying to layer something lemony/citrucy with violets. Now I have to comb through our Citrus SnS threads for a couple of years.

Have a nice day and Happy Father's Day to you who celebrate, no matter if you are a dad or not.

Good morning everyone. Today i'm in the gorgeous Sous le vent.

Just a lazy day around the apartment today as the weather was drizzly and grey; so I wanted something cozy - L'Occitane Miel & Citron

Happy Daddy's Day to all Daddies!!!

Feeling wistful this morning. Got news yesterday that a sweet youngish biker from our AA group was dead of accidental poisoning and the hardly-sober guy responsible is not to be found. Sadness all around.

So sought what promised to be the gentle comfort of KM's Hanae...."A misty teahouse garden in Kyoto, in a pale spring morning was the set for the inspiration. A chord of fine freshness of hesperides and powdery floral notes confers iridescence and tenderness." (I promise - every word of this is eggsackly reproduced from the booklet copy.)

The story you told was so sad, Taolady. To get into recovery and then die, when life is just unfolding....

Today I'm testing Spiritueuse Double Vanille. It's very pretty, but might not have the vanilla 'oomph' I'm looking for...

Hermes Brin de Reglisse this morning. Shockingly beautiful, but oh so fleeting. I wear it on weekend mornings, because I know it will be gone by the time I'm out sweating on the tennis courts.
Taolady, I'm so sorry! How sad.

Thanks to a wonderful friend, I'm wearing Jean Patou Pan Ame
Notes: linden blossom, violet leaves, pear, peach, sandalwood, musk

This is so lovely, a fruity-floral done right. It is delicate and sheer, yet the touches of sandalwood and musk add substance.

Take care, everyone!

Am sending a cuddle to (((Taolady)))

Wearing vintage Fame de Corday. Very fine; like a vintage Patou, to my mind.
Ah, Tao, that's sad. I can imagine that knowing the chap was in recovery must be some comfort to his family - the idea that he had found that strength within himself. But the potential that's been lost... heartbreaking.

I am wearing a fragrance that was a gift from a friend here on Basenotes - Potiron. Bond No. 9 Silver Factory. I like it very much; incense it ideal for summer somehow and it's especially good on drizzly grey days like today.

I wish you all a happy day with - however it may manifest itself in your life - a positive paternal element.
And for the Solstice tomorrow, blessed be.

Taolady - hugs.

This morning I am testing out a load of scents so I am 'O Smelly One' .
Amongst all the smellies I sprayed lately- Dior's Eau Sauvage is by far a big love for me.

Le grand Duc, your queen Margrethe was handsome and impressing as always.

Encre Noir.

Hello everyone!

I'm in the vivacious and glamorous (and very rosey) Lipstick Rose today. I can't help but feel posh and sexy in this ultra-girly cloud of hot pink...so I'm not sure what made me reach for it on this particular morning, but it was the perfect choice none-the-less. Fiance likes it, too!

Many hugs to you, (((TaoLady.)))

And to the Dads out there - Happy Father's Day!

Y'all have a wonderful day!

Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers

Caron - Infini

Delightful in the original formula
with its 'Caron' carnation base.
Not to be discounted in the more recent
version with more aldehydic emphasis.
Powerful, almost gaseous to start,
I am fueled as for lift-off.
Jungle florals and sandalwood mingle passionately.
There's nothing to stop me as I soar to an
all-time high at the next dinner dance!

Created in 1912 by Ernest Daltroff in collaboration
with Gerad Lefort, taking 15 years to perfect.
A soft rich floral aldehyde parfum with notes of
jasmine, jonquil, lily of the valley, tuberose and sandalwood.

((((Taolady))))

A little moist towelette of L'Occitane Cherry EDT Cerisier. I don't think it does justice to the fragrance, but I am yet to experience it from the bottle -- just when it got discontinued! Well, but bought it on sale, that's a plus!

It's rainy day here.
Oh, Taolady, I am so sorry It is so hard to bear witness to such losses.

I am wearing Giselle, Carla Fracci. I can't explain it, but I seem to be in a floral period.

Bigarade Concentree, for another leisurely day with cool temps and impending rain. 2010: Best June weather ever! (Sorry, Evangeline.)

Pomander.

I was thinking the same thing, Quarry. My father was an alcoholic who died in a car accident. Funny thing was, he had sobered up and was a pedestrian hit by a driver. That was certainly not the phone call we had expected. It doesn't always work out the way we think.

I'm wearing Prada L'Eau Ambrée today, it's sheer and lovely in hot weather.

Here's to all the fathers (biological and otherwise) on Basenotes! I hope you enjoy the day. ♥

Later all you cute little gators!

I was reaching for Avignon but swerved and went with Love In Black. All those little last minute choices and derailments that make up our fates - may we never zig when we should have zag-ed!

Today I'm sampling Xerjoff Nio. I don't usually like scents that fall into the "men's cologne" genre, but I'm liking this.

Le Grand Duc - Samsara is one of my all-time favorites, so I know you smell wonderful. I have a FB of the original formula.

Finally I smell of ONE fragrance only, today- Joy parfum extrait ( P & G )

Happy Father's Day to those celebrating it!

Testing Caron's Narcisse Noir today. I'm kinda disappointed - I thought it was going to be a big booming floral with incense undertones, but all I'm getting is a little orange blossom.

Pan Ame sounds intriguingly lovely tden1961- must seek out.

My choice on this lazy sunny Sunday (after much indecision) is Le 3e Homme by Caron.

EL Tuberose Gardenia smelled better the first half of the day, not quite as good the 2nd half.

Off-topic: I just took a photo of my deliciously fragrant daylily "Hyperion". Click on the link in my siggy to see it!

Songes from a sample....the first few minutes were iffy, but it turned out lovely!
My SotD is Jean Charles Brousseau Fleurs d'Ombre Violette Menthe, from a sample sent by a fragrance friend. Twolf, you may want to try this one sometime. It's not citrussy, but it does have some green zing from the top notes. I like it!

Found these notes listed on various websites: bergamot, wild blackcurrant, peppermint, mint leaves, parma violet, peony, hawthorn, white flowers, rose, sandalwood, oak, sweet notes, and musk.

Oh geeze Babes - that's AWFUL. Special thoughts for you on this Father's Day.

Continued with Keiko - Passiflora, "Passion Fruit, Floral Notes, Lychee, Green Mango, Yellow Fruits, White Musc". Although described as "sparkling" on me it is more ethereal and elusive. Like Hanae, not very lasting. Maybe it's my mood.

P.S. Pardon thoughtlessness...many thanks for hugs and healing vibes. You guys are the BEST.

Thank you for the Father's Day wishes. My two girls are the joy of my life.

Today I wore my Father's Day gift to myself:

Creed Erolfa

I absolutely love this one. I wore it several times (from a decant) last month, and it smelled great. Unfortunately in the extreme heat it kind of goes into hiding on my skin. Now that I'm inside this evening I can smell it again (great as usual). I may just have to wait until some slightly cooler days to wear it. It may be a spring/fall scent for me, or at least not a mid-summer scent.
