I'm taking a break from the testing of samples for a day and will wear Code. I know it's getting too popular and as the case with ADG will become a hated scent because of this but it's just so good. Spicy, sweet, earthy and it seems like it's formulated perfectly for my Mediterranean bloodline skin in it's dry down.

Although I'm thinking of going back to get me a bottle of the Fresh Cannabis Santal. Ever since wearing it the other day I can't get that scent out of my mind. It has a pleasant opening that is kind of sweet like cotton candy but quickly settles into something that really is reminiscent of a red hair Sativa and a dry down that is both woody and fresh at the same time. Not particularly a sillage monster but is adequate and the longevity is pretty good on me.

Edit: It seems I'm now a full fledged 'basenotes member' not just a 'new member' anymore and I got two stars!!!! Go me! Go me! Go me!

Only on Basenotes. No one else on earth will hate it, or know how popular it is. Or care.

Ah, my bad. I see Gaultier2 and I immediately think of you sir. I love Opium but I can't even imagine touching my bottle with how hot it is outside.

This afternoon for me it's:

Rose Poivree (vintage juice) by The Different Company (BIG THANK YOU to nsamadi)

I forgot how devastatingly good this juice is. And this vtg juice is so strong just one spray is scenting me quite adequately. Rose and pepper everywhere, here at my office desk!!!

Complicated today. Started with PdN New York. Had forgotten how good it is. Late in the day I put on some Caron Third Man. And now I'm continuing my layering adventures with PdN Balle de Match, wearing it on one arm with Aramis. Liking it. So I really smell.

Today first full wear of Nemo! This stuff is great but it just doesn't work with the heat here right now. It's good in the AC just dont go outside. Cant wait for cooler weather to try this further.

Yea, the scentsnobs, no offense to the many wonderful contributors on here, seem to think if something is too popular or too linear it doesn't meet standards of greatness. It has to be some obscure niche or have a 101 notes to be up to snuff.

I don't care, I like what I like and if alot of others like it, too, so be it. Just recently my samples of Code ran out so I was buying a bottle and the sales guy at this store was trying to talk me out of it. I have it in my hand and am standing in front of the register and he's telling me how I don't want to smell like every other guy and if I like that I'll like this other scent that smells exactly like Code but I'll be different then. So I ask him if I want to be different why should I buy something that smells exactly like it? He just kind of stuttered.

So I said I'll spray one on one arm and the other on the other arm and think about it, did that and walked out of the store. He chased me out there trying to get me to buy one of the two and I told him he needs to learn to stfu when someone knows what they want and are standing in front of the register with cash in hand and the item in the other.

The other scent smelled amazingly identical in opening notes but the dry down was so woody and wimpy it disappeared on my skin in an hour or so where the Code kept it's presence and spice for hours. The next day I went to another store where I found Code for sale for $25 less on the same size and thanks to the pushy SA I found a better retail source with wholesale pricing, well once I got the special pricing from the cute female SA and she said she'll give me a discount on anything I want since her family owned the store.

Tonight I'm going to rock Rochas Man since I have a date and we probably will get cozy.....and no it's not the SA from that store...haha

What a cool story. The ending is really good.

SotE: Dior Homme Cologne. It is straight from heaven. Maybe the best of the Dior Homme collection.

I've been so wanting to sample Dior Homme but haven't came across a tester anywhere I've been so far. I guess one of the bigger department stores would have this available to sniff.

I Love Armani Code Pour Homme.....I don't understand why anyone would hate a scent that appeals to the masses.....I would rather smell good like many others than stink all by myself!!!

Great pictures and choices as always JB, I especially liked your summer solstice post.

I wore Fragonard Vetyver today in the extreme heat and humidity. After dark fell and I could take a run I picked a vetiver essential oil after the shower.
