Vintage Patchouli Oil as a perfume?

I've read in some distant previous threads that Patchouli oil worn directly on the skin can smell quite nice and that aged Patchouli oil smells even better.

I am just trying to get a current general opinion on this issue.
Do you guys (or gals) wear any Patchouli oil?

I have read about Aveda Patchouli oil smelling good. However I found this 15 year old Patchouli oil being sold here that sounds even more tempting.

It is rather expensive (particularly when you factor the shipping).
Has anyone bought from them or tried this particular oil?

I have not bought from them, but have worn patchouli oil in the past. Fresh is rather raw smelling, very strong, and can be slightly abrasive. As it ages it softens and becomes "rounder" (still strong). You only need a few drops so a half ounce should last for a very long time. That price is actually quite good. I may make an order myself as it has been a long time since I've worn any.

As an "oils only" girl for a number of years I can attest to the patchouli oil being very nice on the skin. The price of the oil isn't too bad, really... and as it is vintage it will definitely smell more elegant than the fresh. (and ditto the ordering some myself!) I expect it will likely smell every bit as good as - or better than - CB Patchouli Empire. I'll let you know!

Thanks for your responses. Looks like I wouldn't be far behind in ordering it from them. They could possibly see a spike in their Patchouli oil sale as a result of this thread :-)

As for the price I was just talking relatively as Patchouli Oil (non vintage) is available for much less here

I bought Bourbon Vetiver oil from them (Aqua Oleum) and I can attest that it is probably the finest 'vetiver' I have EVER purchased.
It's dirt cheap and works wonderfully well layered with vetiver fragrances.

EDIT: We could possibly buy a bigger container and split it amongst ourselves. It can reduce the per ml cost substantially. Please PM me if we could work out an arrangement. Thank you.

I do sometimes, I use it as a layer or alone. It does get compliments, sillage is remarkable and longevity too.

I looked into this, but it looks like they want to charge $30 to ship to the UK, so it's a no-goer for me. Does anyone know of a UK-based source for aged patchouli oil, or just one which doesn't charge a ridiculous amount for shipping?

I was looking for a nice patchouli fragrance. Ended up buying a bottle (not the one in your link) of pure oil and that is now what I wear when I am in a patchouli mood.

I made up a bottle of patchouli oil and Jojoba. The Jojoba is pure (ie not filtered) and it changes the scent a bit but still, it smells like a wonderful strong patchouli

I can't comment on vintage vs new or how good the price is of the bottle you linked to but I think I paid $15 for 5ml (@local health food store) for non-vintage and it smells wonderful!
