Vintage Halston Z-14

Thread Starter
For those who do not know, Halston Fragrances has abandoned this fragrance and relinquished the rights to it to Elizabeth Arden Fragrances.

I have a few questions about this unfortunate event. When exactly did it happen? I am curious how old a bottle of vintage Z-14 would be if I bought it today. What is the difference in terms of appearance between a vintage and a reformulated bottle and package of Z-14? I have tried to obtain a vintage bottle and so far been unsuccessful in it. I also want to know more specifically if anyone knows where a vintage bottle can be obtained now. I would love to own one or two of these.

Never cared for this fragrance at all.

I've never smelled vintage, but the Z14 I bought at Filene's last year is excellent. Strong, herbal, and with a potent 1980s vibe. The bottle was still the "blob" one I've seen in pics.

I doubt it has been reformulated.

Good stuff. I have never seen a Z-14 that is not in the brown blob.

Some have said the original was stronger. I have a newer version, and it's strong enough for me (1 or 2 sprays). It's also good in every way, so I'm not willing to pay more for the vintage. If I can get a bottle really cheap, I'll do it, and then report back to this thread or a similar one.
