Black Orchid by Tom Ford

Should I wear Black Orchid for a summer evening? Anyone else wear Black Orchid during the evening?

I was given a sample of it (dab on). One time I put it on and asked a lady friend how she liked it compared to M7. She said she liked M7 better, cause Black Orchid smelled "chemically".

I'm going out with friends for the evening (chat, drink, be merry). They aren't huge on fragrance, and I'm pondering whether or not I should go with Black Orchid.

Here are the other fragrances I'm considering wearing (if I don't go with Black Orchid):
- M7
- Musc Ravageur
- Gris Clair
- Encre Noir
- Acier Aluminum
- Cereus Pour Homme No. 14
- Encens Flomboyant
- Cedre (Serge Lutens)

Go with what you feel like. Personally I love Black Orchid on a hot summer evening, and that's how I first tried it.

Wear it! One person might like M7 better and others will like Black Orchid better. I'm on a real sweet and fruity kick the last week so I'd say Black Orchid is better now rather than M7

For a hot day, I would dab a couple spots on the inside of my elbows and a couple dabs behind my neck. It's a gorgeous fragrance, but a little sweet and may get cloying in extreme heat.

I have a sample vial, but haven't felt like trying it in the summer heat yet. Seems like it would be too cloying. I'll give it a test run one of these days. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks everyone. I decided to go with Cedre. After reading the other replies I'm thinking I should have went with Black Orchid. I'll definitely give it a try next week.

Absolutely alluring on a woman any night of the year.
I personally wouldn't wear it myself.
I prefer his tobacco vanille for my own heavy sweet evening scent.
But black Orchid isn't too feminine to not be worn by a man.
