Still up. Insomnia, and what is worse, I've told my Mom we're taking her to the Bronx Zoo today so can't sleep in.

No idea what I'll wear today but it better be something invigorating to keep me awake! Good thing I won't be the one driving.

My SOTD is Paloma Picasso Minotaure. Happy Birthday Divatologist!

Top notes are aldehydes, coriander, tarragon, fruity notes, galbanum and bergamot.
Middle notes are jasmine, lily-of-the-valley, rose and geranium.
Base notes are sandalwood, tonka bean, amber, musk, vanilla and cedar.

I'm in the Chanel Cuir de Russie sychronised pong club.

Good morning all! I envy mumsy and Le Grand Duc their Chanel.

I'm wearing the terrifically tacky Harajuku Lovers Lil' Angel - the new formulation, with the vanilla and hints of lemon and orange. I wore it the other day and somebody told me I smelled like a cake, which made me smile. Although maybe it shouldn't have!

I've had a couple of great bargains recently! Guerlain's Champs-Elysees for £15 at TKMaxx, and SJP's Lovely for £15 at Debenhams. It was on sale - 50ml! I'm a bit confused about this scent on the high street - the Boots I go to has to order it in per customer now, and Debenhams I doubt will be stocking it much longer. I think NYC might be the replacement. The sales assistants I was chatting to were very puzzled, because Lovely is still such a big seller.

Still in Odalisque on this Midsummes Eve. Going camping in our boat, so no more fragrance until tomorrow when I'm home again.

In sync with Chanel Cuir de Russie. Smells like a million bucks, so elegant and smooth.

Happy birthday to Divatologist!

Happy Friday, all!

Ah well its Le Dix for me today. The old fashioned aldehydes with their powdery softness seem to hold up so well in the heat.
Aramis Havana today.
What? It's Divatologist's birthday again? Well, one of these years you're going to have to start looking older!

Wearing some of the last of some vintage Cuir de Russie. Yes, elegant and only mildly leathery (no horsing whinnying in the background a la the mention of Frau Blucker). Considering how I have virtually no history of knowing perfumes, I still immediately peg this as belonging to an upper-class setting from the 1960s. Representative of Chanel's restraint, it doesn't jump all over the olfactory map, which gives it an air of serenity.

(Honey just walked in. "What are you wearing? Whew. Whew." )
I'm trying PG's Bois de Copaiba on the left arm, for something completely different. It's a little too medicinal/camphorous to me. Is that the Myrrh? Still, to my untrained nose it seems very well constructed..??
On the other arm is a sample of Divine's L'Infante. It's a beautiful floral, and I'm not usually that enamored with straight up florals. Maybe my tastes are broadening, because everytime I bring my wrist to my nose I can't help but smile. This scent makes me happy!

Happy birthday Divatologist! May your day be heavenly scented

Today I'm wearing Chanel Cuir de Russie (EDT, new Exclusifs) for scent synchronisation Friday (thanks Mumsy !) CdR was basically my signature scent throughout Winter and Spring, and I'd just resigned myself to taking it out of summer rotation. But I couldn't pass up wearing my beloved today. As long as I stay in air conditioned indoors (a reason to enjoy being at work today!) I'll smell grand.

Happy Friday to everyone!
Hello everyone!

I'm in Keiko Mecheri's heavenly White Petals today - simply the prettiest straight-up floral that I own. The notes are white peony, white camellia, May rose, narcissus, Lily-of-the-Valley and "precious" woods.

Happy Birthday Divatologist - wishing you all the best for a brand new year!

And welcome to Basenotes, mountainear!

Y'all have a wonderful day!

I'm in Musc & Freesia today (E.Coudray). Lavishly, lavishly.

Chanel Cuir de Russie.

Good Morning All. My SOTD is DelRae 'BOIS DE PARADIS' from a sample. A fairly non-descrip fragrance on me, it's definitely not a scent I have to compete with, I'd describe it as a woodsy, amber oriental, without a lot of punch.
NOTES: top: Citrus (I don't get it)
Middle: French Rose, Blackberry, Fig, Spices (really?, I still don't get it)
Bottom: Woods, Amber

O.K, I'll give it the benefit, maybe its lost its strength due to a multiple of reasons.

AM: Comme des Garcons Champaca
PM: Voluspa Cult of Helios

Good morning, all! Happy birthday to la Diva!

Today I am in Guerlain's Mahora, a good-time scent for a summer Friday. I wish I had a big tropical flower tucked behind my ear, and an umbrella drink ...

No Cuir de Russie for me (its nice pong on everybody else turns pooey on me. Phooey.)

Had many other scent bases covered with all the ingredients in Cologne du 68 de Guerlain (if I got that name right I'll be surprised!) but all its 68 ingredients were "getting to me" around lunchtime... so I'm now in (a bit overapplied) vintage Turbulences (which is also overpowering me... sheesh. I may just have discovered what scent my late Gran wore!)

And...

Happy Birthday Diva!!!
Happy Birthday Diva!

SOTD is Chanel No. 19 EDP, dabbed from a sample.

I started the get-ready scheme this morning with my sample of Sisley's Eau de Campagne lotion (really NICE for a green floral fan like me, once you get past the first 2-3 minutes or so). Then, I thought - hey, you know - No. 19 would be great with this lotion....but the EDP quickly becomes WAY more floral (almost powdery!) than either the EDT or parfum (either vintage or modern). All said, though, the combination is one I'm likely to try again. It's surprisingly pretty and subtle...and dare I say it - elegant.

Hugs to all - hope you are looking forward to a great weekend.

This afternoon I just had to wear a little Black Orchid. And on me, a little goes a long way.

This evening I'm in a little bit of a sample that our very own Le Grand Duc provided me, vintage Poison...

(I figured that with the aromafest I had going on earlier a good scrub followed by something equally aromatic would be the only thing to do.)

And finding it quite "the donkey's strawberry" which I understand is a very good thing. (hey, I was married to a Brit for 23 years <obviously at a VERY young age> and all I have left from that time is a load of colloquialisms, that I hope I know how to use properly!)

Considering that for the rest of this weekend I will likely smell like Eau de Dill Pickle... (It's canning time from the "estate's" kitchen garden!) the Poison is a very good thing indeed.
Happy Birthday Divatologist. You smell gorgeous on that Caron!
Oops, I forgot about Cuir de Russie. I wore Violette in Love by Patricia de Nicolai again. It is a very lovely violet surrounded by green shrubs!!

Happy Birthday Diva!

RHM, sorry to hear you have more pesky medical issues to deal with. When I was about your daughter's age, we went gem mining at Ruby Falls in Tennessee. It was fun!

Thank you all for the for the good thoughts and advice yesterday. The maids arrived on time and did a fine job. Our bedroom furniture will be delivered on Saturday at the same time as the shower, but that's okay as long as it arrives in good shape (besides, everyone will get to see our fancy new furniture ). MIL is here and settled in. My BP was persistently high all day yesterday (like around 140/85), probably due to lack of sleep (I napped an hour in the morning on the back porch lounge chair while the maids were here, then another few hours in the late afternoon before MIL's flight arrived, but still...). Today, even though I had 3 delivery people ring the doorbell before 11:00 and the phone rang many times with other issues, my BP showed 127/69 after lunch. So I rewarded myself with a trip out to take care of errands. MIL came with and helped carry so I picked up DH's prescription at the pharmacy, some dry cleaning from next door (including the comforter for our guest bed that I meant to p/u yesterday), dropped off some used up florescent bulbs at the hardware store for recycling, four plastic grocery bags stuffed with more bags at the grocery for recycling (our city won't recycle them), and several bags of things for Goodwill. For us, getting ready for baby has meant A LOT of cleaning out and throwing away. When I got home, my BP was 127/68. Getting things done is good for me, HA! All the same, I'll keep my feet up for the rest of the evening.

Mimi, I got pearls yesterday too! MIL brought me a gift of her mother's knotted, double strand pearl necklace! The clasp is a floral design with diamonds. Absolutely beautiful, and my first real pearl necklace! I've decided to change my outfit for the shower tomorrow to something that will go with the pearls, so there will be pictures.

Today I'm wearing more DK Chaos, but tomorrow I'll probably go with J'Adore. We'll have beautiful weather so the house will be opened up and I expect most of the festivities will be on the back porch. J'Adore seems perfect for mild summer days and pearls (I won't spray the neck area though).

Wearing Acqua di Parma's Mandorlo di Sicilia today. I really like it - it's a yummy foodie vanilla, but it reminds me a little too much of Lostmarch's Lann-Ael.
Happy Birthday Diva!
I was wearing Yria and Elige today to compare the two. Results:Yria is richer more spice ,Elige has more floral to the floriental catagory.
