Ambre Topkapi -- thoughts and anything similiar

When I first smelt AP I dismissed it as being utterly generic and boring. But I've grown to love it and I see it as perfectly balanced as having fresh, spicy, warm and smoky facets. The trouble is it's quite expensive for what it is (I still think it's generic but love it nonetheless); is there anything similar? I heard Mark Birkley is somewhat like it.

Both Mark Birley and Ambre Topkapi were created by Pierre Bourdon. I have not tried Ambre Topkapi, so I cannot comment on it. I have and enjoy Mark Birley and find it to be a fresh, airy, and elegant masculine, not at all spicy or smoky to be sure.

While I would say Mark Birley is worth testing, it probably will not meet your need as an alternative.

Thank you. I do recall them being both by Bourdon. I tried MB last year, but that was only one spray and I found it generic. I didn't even give it a full minute to assess. I just went...spray...ew...next! Lol! I'll have to try it again.
