Without a doubt Portrait of a Lady.

If you're talking strictly/mostly incense, I would go Kyoto.

SHAAL NUR by Etro

Technically, Avignon is drop-for-drop unbelievably high quality -- too good for CDG's peculiar nozzle which I can't coax to express a small amount, hence overspray.

But I really like Bois d'Encens (Armani Prive) which is more black pepper than frankincense. Too bad it's so overpriced and fades quickly.

Bois d'Encens is my two cents.

Amouage Epic, not too smoky to me, the right balance

Body Kouros an incense fragrance ?? Some of you must not know what incense smells like. I made a small purchase of it based on the numerous mentions of it and find that it doesn't even smell remotely like incense. Avignon and Cardinal are at the top. Kouros is not, in my opinion, in the incense class.
Montale Full Incense is also right up there.

Amouage Jubilation XXV
Amouage Epic Man
CDG kyoto
By Killian Incense Oud

Black Afghano?

Avignon is a bit too literal for my tastes, I dont want to smell like a catholic priest! but yes it is damn good stuff!

CDG Incense :Avignon hands down. I also like Bonds Silver Factory but it does have that metallic industrial vibe.
Wazamba by PdE - it takes a while to process but surely a maestral effort.
By Kilian Incense Oud. An honorable mention to Serge Lutens Fille en Aiguilles.
Tribute attar
I'm a big fan of L'Artisan Passage 'Enfer, with its clean incense balanced out by quite indolic white lily - it puts me into a time and place unlike any other incense perfumes.
Not one mention of CDG Dover Street Market? It's not the most popular CDG by far, but man do I love the stuff. It's like a toned down Ouarzazate (which I love also) with some other stuff thrown in the mix, but surprisingly it lasts a lot longer on me than Ouarzazate. It stays close to skin but that's how I tend to like my frags. So, by vote is for Dover Street Market and Ouarzazate.
I love so many incense fragrances. But if I had to pick one, I would say by Kilian Incense Oud. With CDG Avignon and Armani Prive Bois d'Encens just behind.

Czech & Speake #88
Knize Sec

That's the first time I have heard it described as an incense fragrance. I have never smelled it but keep reading positive comments about it. Interesting, now I want to try it even more.
I'm torn between Bois d'Encens and Avignon. I'm leaning towards Avignon for a truer evocation of pure incense but I love them both for the feelings they both evoke.

Another one for Kyoto. Takes me back to my childhood in Japan. I find it so photo-realistic that I start sniffing for other smells I associate with Japanese incense such as tatami matting and the smells of trees around temples where I've smelt the incense.

Unfortunately this realism means it is a big no-no for my wife. For her it smells like grandpa (or elderly people) as well as having religious associations, particularly with death and ancestors, due to it being used on the butsudan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butsudan) in her home.
Has anyone mentioned Black Amber by Agonist? I've only worn it once, but it seems like a very underrated incense fragrance.

Also:
Jubilation XXV (although there is technically no incense in the note breakdown)
Memoir Man (the pepper compliments the incense nicely, and I love that wormwood opening)

Your experience is very much like mine with my Japanese friends - they smell an incense perfume on me and state that it reminds them of death or the family ohaca. I suppose that's a compliment on a perfume's accuracy?

One would be:

Wazamba by Parfum d'Empire
- Initially, one is treated to a rush of smoky, colophony incense commingling with the Christmas tree aroma of balsam fir. At once, one is immersed in the resinous warmth of a lively incense coupled with the somewhat minty coolness of fir, creating an illusion of a forest floor with crushed needles and embers from a dying fire. A sweep of aldehyde provides a fizzy greenness. And, a faint backdrop of a slightly tart and clean apple also presents. Transitioning to the heart, the incense is relegated to the background while a cool and medicinal myrrh vies with a warm and sweet opopanax. And, an odoriferous labdanum imparts its warm and sweet, ambergris character. The enhanced resins flow to the receptive base. A gentle sandalwood, with its buttery and softly sweet woodiness, lifts the resinous, incense concoction. A soothing cypress infuses its pine-like woodiness with an ambergris nuance. A mystically comforting drydown ensues. This exotic composition is unisex, but leans to the masculine side. A rather unique scent, it has average, radiating projection, and good longevity, about 11 hours.

Although I don't smell much incense in it, my favorite fragrance with an incense note is without doubt Body Kouros. While my favorite fragrances that actually smell like incense are probably Zirh Ikon, Intimately Beckham, and Kenzo: Time for Peace for him.

I get an incensy, sweet-soft-leatherish vibe from it. Good stuff

It appears that a lot of fellow basenoters don't share my views :-(

Amouage do have a wonderful incense note but they use it as part of their scents, i.e. floating in the background. For straight up incense fragrances , I like Gate of Hell by L'Artisan and Midnight Mass by ETRO.

CdG Zagorsk / Kyoto / Avignon in that order
Black Tourmaline
Black Cashmere
Mecca Balsam
Fille en Aiguilles.
