It's July! What are we buying!?

I started with:

Cuir Ottoman by Parfum D'Empire and New York by Parfums de Nicolai

Just ordered from luckyscent! Now I can't wait for them to arrive to Shanghai!

Matt, Supper, Mike: I couldn't wait. So I just bought it! Thank you for the help. hahahaha

I expect La Myrrhe, Sarrasins and yet another back-up bell jar of Chergui to arrive today... in the pre-holiday commotion today I will only be able to quickly dab my wrists though. Upon my return lovely samples from dr.creed and another real treat from gerald will await me.
I didn't buy it as it was a birthday present, but:

And I also received 5 or 10 ml decants of:

Mitsouko EDP
CdG Incense Kyoto
CdG Incense Jaisalmer
L'AP Méchant Loup
L'AP Safran Troublant
TDC Oriental Lounge
Lubin Idole
Etro Etra
Byredo Palermo

L'Eau Au Masculine - Lolita Lempicka

First impressions: this is going to be one successful and popular frag. Ticks a lot of boxes (except weak and wimpy) for a very broad demographic. Fantastic scent.

Could you recognise the back of this box?
A sillage-monster-bergamot-bomb from the past, launched by a WELL known brand,in limited distribution, this comes in an unusual ,but very handy packaging of 30 ml / 1 oz.

Here it is then!

BVLGARI - EAU PARFUMEE AU THE ROUGE
Very good scent ! Wasn't so much impressed by the "vert" version and found the "blanc" a bit too feminine for my taste. This one has something deep and really earthy, doing well its tea-scent job since it reminds me a teabag, a good black tea bag I guess. There's also something very comfortable in this one, and I always appreciate this feature in a fragrance. However, it's not as clean as the other two, and I find it rather strong (for a Bvlgari fragrance).
I have to admit it could maybe suit a woman better, but it's not too much feminine though, and I'll wear it proudly.
I'm totally fan of the bottle design btw.

Just ordered online:
 • Bois Farine (finally, it's been on my wishlist for ages)
 • Guerlain Homme Intense (for my partner)
 • Yatagan (yeah, buying this blind, so I'm counting on you all to be my support group if it ends in tears)

I have high hopes for the Yatagan, actually. I "needed" one low-priced item to bump my order into the $25-off category at beautyencounter.com. Was back and forth between Yatagan and Mitsouko, which would also have been a blind buy. Clicking "submit" on my order was a bit of an out-of-body experience.

Can't get the pictures to show, but the link is there

Vintage Vol de Nuit in parfum concentration. Somehow, this classic invokes a certain melancholy that brings back sad memories.... I can almost empathize with Jacques Guerlain when he learnt of Saint-Exupery's death...

Today I bought a big bottle of Polo Modern Reserve for A$37.50, two 100ml bottles of Bogart PH for A$17.50 each, and golf ball lip balm thingy for three dollars. These were the prices after the 40% discount.

It was 30% off the already reduced prices if I bought three items at Perfume Connection, which I was about to pay for. But the helpful sales girl said why don't I buy the lip balm for A$5, which would make it four items and 40% off the total. So I paid the extra A$5 which in turn reduced the total price by A$12.60.

Arithmetically, a good purchase.

I also bought 11 bottles of various women's perfumes at another store, for use as gifts on my next overseas trip.

Two today (both from 1991, coincidentally):
 • Giorgio Beverly Hills - Red for Men
 • Romeo Gigli
Twas the first time I saw this in a store in here in Manila (Philippines) so I bought it right away, it wasn't expensive anyway Good handy size too, the 30ml I can take anywhere. Some might say it smells "old" -- but old or not, the bottle is already worth the price tag haha

Eau de Shalimar by Guerlain

This was a blind buy for me, which I rarely do. But...I'm a big fan of Shalimar and it is summer, so this seemed like a no-brainer for me. The reviews are not promising, but I think a light, sheer, modern take on Shalimar might be a little easier to spray on in this humid temperature we're experiencing down here. ((crossing fingers))

Tommy Bahama Set Sail St. Barts for a whopping $12 for a 100ml bottle

for $14.99 at TJ Maxx

it smells like Vanilla Coca Cola for about 2 minutes which is AWESOME! (im still livid they stopped making vanilla coke) i missed that taste...or smell in this case.

Reminds me alot of the heart of Le Male, except this is a very different, stronger floral (i've never tried Fleur Du Male but based on the descriptions ive heard, it reminded me of what Fleur -might- smell like, sort of like Le Male but more floral obviously). The Vanilla Coke comes back for a few minutes too. its died down on my skin now, but ive heard it has bad warm-weather longevity. Well actually its still kinda there, very powdery. I'm picking up an almost rubber-y note now. I'm loving the complexity! (i've been adding to this paragraph as it developes)

I would say it is a combo of Ice*Men's nutmeg note + Le Male's heart + different florals from Le Male added to the heart.

my over all impression is D.R.Y. its a very dry floral. Cant wait to test this potential gem out some more!

Kenzo Homme - Blind.

I normally don't blind buy at all, but I am a lover of aquatics, and this is one of the few I am missing. I got a great price for it on ebay, so hopefully I don't regret this one.

Nice! I got the sample pack of the range with my 1969 and this was the stand out (I have 1725, 1740) of them all for me - very evocative, it tells a story.

I just ordered Prada Man from a Japanese on-line retailer. Below 5000 yen, which seems somewhat on the low end--it is hard to find really cheap stuff here--there is nothing like TJ Maxx here. I bought a 9ml mini in the Ameyoko district of Ueno. I liked it a lot, and it layers well with classic Guerlains like Mitsukou and Shalimar. It is soapy, yes, but also has floral notes on top of a classic EDC base, with a very European vibe. Maybe too sophisticated for me! Anyway, COD order will arrive sometime. (Online info seems to suggest this is the same as Amber pour Homme. One place said that 'man' was the marketing name for Asian markets. Do you agree?)

Thanks to a good sale, a great basenoter, and another wonderful friend, my newest acquisitions are two bottles of vintage juice Rose Poivree from The Different Company. I think 500ml is pretty much a lifetime supply, but I'm glad to have it. The large glass bottle is extravagant and beautiful!
