Wintergreen frags?

Any good classy, refined, gentleman wintergreen fragrances yet are still invigorating and uplifting? Is that asking too much????

Tough question. I remember going through a phase myself where I thought wintergreen would be a great note. The basenote
note directory was completely stumped as well. I see some reviewers mention a wintergreen smell from time to time, but the
stuff they talk about is foreign to me anyway. I guess a good cheap starting point might be Coty Aspen.

I know its not listed it the scent pyramid, but I get a wintergreen note tucked nicely in with all the dusty notes in Andy Tauer's Lonestar Memories. It actually reminds me of Skoal.

Geir is a bit like that

CK Truth for men, Hugo Boss Elements Aqua, (not quite green but shares the vibe with Truth For Men wich is quite green-ish), Hugo by Hugo Boss (fresh, but spicy enough that it could be pulled off in winter), Givenchy Very Irresistible for men (gourmand with a green-ish vibe)

I've always thought Opium PH had a wintergreen aspect.

Wintergreen oil is highly toxic and many people have asthmatic allergic reactions to it. In addition, most of the dental hygiene products I encounter are flavored with wintergreen so I'm pretty sure that anything that smells 'minty fresh' is going to give you the wintergreen accord you're looking for, even if wintergreen is not listed as a note in the actual pyramid of the fragrance.

Try Geranium Pour Monsieur by Frederic Malle and/or Aqua Allegoria Mentafollia by Guerlain.

I love wintergreen, but the only fragrance I've found where it's a really dominant note is Tubereuse Criminelle, which dries down to something that might be more floral than you're seeking. Many of the fragrances I've read people describe as wintergreen come off as spearmint, camphor, or eucalyptus, lacking that distinctive wintergreen edge.

Personally, I'd love to see a wintergreen and musk fragrance.

Oil of wintergreen is simply methyl salicylate, and is used (along with other salicylates) in many floral scents. One where it's especially prominent is Tubéreuse Criminelle (Serge Lutens). There's already a lot of methyl salicylate in natural tuberose, and Sheldrake opens TC with a blast of it.

My favorite Wintergreen is Tubereuse Criminalle ,

I like stimulated notes like Rosemary , Mint, Clove , camphor ...
but especially I like Rosemary in mornings , I use diluited in jojoba oil and put in my hair after shower
the efect is the best , also Shiseido Mens Body Creator Aromatic Gel , is a body cream very refreshing.
This creams blends well with fragances like Geranium Pour Monsieur , Czech and Speake Cuba , Mentafollia ,
Hinoki

Other fragances with Camphor , Mint and refreshing notes ...

Heeley Spirit of the Tiger is a unique scent inspired by the traditional Chinese remedy, Tiger Balm and features notes of camphor, mint, clove and cardamom. It is an eau de parfum, edp.

Hinoki by Monocle/ CdG, Hinoki is named for the hinoki cypress, a tree that only grows in Japan. This is the wood used for building palaces, temples and shrines. CdG Hinoki is the scent of the hinoki wood, greenery, frankincense, and moss created after soaking in a hinoki wood bath in Kyoto. There are additional notes of turpentine, camphor, cedar, thyme, pine, Georgian wood and vetiver.

This is quite true. Though only in Tubereuse Criminelle would I call it a truly dominant note, it is very noticeable in Tubereuse Couture by Parfumerie Generale, and to a lesser extent in Carnal Flower by Frederic Malle and Poison by Dior.

Though I don't want this to seem like a recommendation, I ought to mention Aveda's Fire Essence No. 20. I think it is an astoundingly ugly fragrance, but it's also undoubtedly a wintergreen bomb, at or exceeding the level found in Tubereuse Criminelle. Try it if you like, but I find it quite putrid.

Lacoste Booster

Booster is often referred as "minty", but wintergreen is much sweeter and richer than actual mint.
The rest of the booster heart accord is a very bnice, slightly medicinal combo of eucalyptus and green grassy/leafy notes. it's Lacoste's best imo.

And 2nd the Lonestar memories, which is a whole different dirty type of wintergreen smell, although I assume Tauer used no wintergreen oil, instead the methyl salicylate comes from sweet birch.

Oh yes, forgot about Booster. Good recommendation!

Mugler Ice Men has sorta a BenGay/Vicks Vapor Rub thing going on.

Yuzu Fou by Parfum d'Empire

Outrageous from Frederic Malle has wintergreen. I like it but it has a very strong synthetic fresh note that bothers some people. It is great for summer.

Wintergreen is my favorite minty flavor (compared to spearmint or peppermint), but I really haven't explored it in fragrance to any degree yet.

Good thread.
