Best/favorite mass market fragrance in the past 5 years?

Thread Starter
Only a handful come to mind for me. I believe the quality and originality put into most fragrances, especially mass marketers has decreased tremendously as the years come. Then again there are some great ones, but which one is the greatest? In your opinion of course. Nothing factual, nothing based on sales, or on Basenotes reviews, or reviews in general. What is YOUR best mass marketed/popular fragrance of the past 5 years.

For me, it's a toss up between Corduroy, Tommy Bahama, Burberry London, Noir de Noir and TdH. All very close, but if I had to pick one that stands out the most, I'd go with Burberry London.

SEAN JOHN UNFORGIVABLE MULTI-PLATINUM
Yes, it's derivitave, yes it's from Puffy,
but I'd be a liar if I said it wasn't my favorite mass market/designer release since 05.

Terre d'Hermes.

Is Baldessarini Ambre considered mass market? If so, that would be my favourite along with Black XS (the REAL 'Light Blue pour Homme')!

I'd have to go with Dior Homme as well, although I suspect it's destined to become a cult favourite like Fahrenheit rather than something that will turn the market upside-down.

Comme des Garçons 2 Man
OK, technically, it came out 6 years ago. I find CdG2 Man to be on of the most successful expressions of avante garde aesthetics brought to the mainstream fragrance market. When it first came out it was readily available at Sephora. No dumbing down effect here. A loud, lemon and smoke blast from the weird aldehydes.

Dior Homme without a doubt.

Other favorite-worthy releases:

Hermes Terre d'Hermes
Sean John Unforgivable
John Varvatos John Varvatos
Armani Code
Burberry London

1.\tFahrenheit 32 very unique from Dior with its sweet vanilla contrasted again herbal vetiver.
2.\tNarciso Rodriguez for him for daring to reclaim the glory of the power scents of the 80’s.

While I think the term "mass marketed" is erroneous here, I just pick a best release from the last 5 years that could be bought at a relatively middle American mall department store. I have to say that I find a lot of the summer editions of things like JPG Le Male and CK products to be interesting and creative. In a similar vein, I was blown away with the retooling for Fahrenheit 32. It doesn't remind me of Fahrenheit at all but is light and fresh while maintaining a decidedly substantial feel in its composition. Also a fantastic bridge between "old school" quality and contemporary individualism.

Fahrenheit 32 gets my vote.

Fahrenheit Absolute
Encre Noire
A*Men Pure Malt
That Pure Malt is good stuff, isn't it. Yum.
You guys aren't really posting "Mass Market" fragrances. NR for Him is certainly not Mass Market. Its designer, but not "mass market". Terre d'Hermes isn't really "mass market either". Pure Malt? Hardly "mass market". Heck, my local Lord & Taylors has 4 boxes still that they cannot sell because nobody will buy it.. becuase its not 'mass market' enough.

True "mass market" that I'll admit to liking? CK Euphoria & Armani Attitude.

But i did wear Terre d' Hermes today to work, and I have NR Musc Oil on my rist just to smell at this exact moment, lol
