Amouage Gold (Men) and Vintage Lagerfeld for Men

Are there similarities?

The aldehydes in both, but this is like saying that two cars have a steering wheel in common: Lagerfeld has been reformulated and it is not what it used to be (nowadays, shortlived and meager in sillage), while Gold is one of the most complex scents I haver ever tried in my life, screaming strong, etc etc. Mario's Justiniani mentions in his review that this is nicheosity to the max, he is right.

So, they are incomparable.

Look for the vintage or new Royal Copenhagen Cologne for a close comparison with Amouage Gold (Men).

Like Lagerfeld, Royal Copenhagen is also alleged to have been poorly reformulated.

Although I have not smelled Amouage Gold, supposing it is a powdery oriental ,and supposing the old Royal Copenhagen were still available, let us just say somebody would have lowered his prices for that expensive brew. $265 for a 1.7 oz botle is an outrage. That is 11x the cost of JHL; 13x the cost of Bijan; I hope it is (although I know it is not) worth it.

Another frag with Amouage Gold's signature powderiness is Pehaligon's Hammam Bouquet.
