Vetiver -- mature use only?

I emptied a mini of Guerlain Vetiver into an atomizer and gave the bottle to my 3-year-old son.

I expected that he'd play with the bottle. Instead, he walks around sniffing it all the time and asking me to smell it too.

I think he's a fan.

That's cute, shortino! I wonder when he'll be able to articulate what he likes about it, other than he got it from his Dad?

(imagines Stewie's voice coming from your child... describing the notes and nuances.)

Good for him! You could make a fun game for him with some sample vials of the essential oil from different places!

And the fun for you would be listening to how he describes each one!

If you live in a place where there are lots of people from all over, you could even add a food element - so he could eat sweets from the country, put on his vetiver from there, astonish your neighbors by pointing out their home nation on the globe, and draw some pictures of people wearing regional costumes, or his interpretation of a beach/city/woodland scene - or people collecting vetiver roots!

ha!

So far his descriptions are limited to "yummy." Really, that works for me (I don't distinguish notes well).

We'll work on the geography and culture lessons, though.

Keep him away from the tobacco notes in Guerlain Vetiver...dont want him to get hooked too early..

Oh, thanks goodness. I thought this thread was gonna go elsewhere !

Shortino, you are clearly an awesome dad. I myself have recently realized what a good smell many vetiver scents are. Guerlain included.

Three years old and he already has good taste.

Not a problem about the "yummy" part... I used that term today in a description of a scent!

My daughter is 3 and a fan of Yatagan. It's never to early to teach them appreciation of the finer things in life.

When I first smelled a vetiver scent, I did the same thing. I kept making my wife smell it until she screamed. She did, too. I was in awe, I had never smelled anything like it and to this day vetiver is still one of the best smells ever. That your 3 year old is so enamored is amazing! I gave my 3 year old a bottle of Tiggerou - you know, the Disney melon-aquatic - and he's turned into a cologne-guy... I asked for it. You give me hope! Perhaps I could get him to wear l'Air du Desert Marocain...hmmm...

Glad to see I'm not the only one influencing my children. Maybe tomorrow will be a many scented life with love and acceptance for all.
