Story of my life. This goes for everything, and I mean everything - just ask my wife.

Clive Christian X for Men? - one word. Amazing!

...then I saw the price tag - $570 for a 3.4oz!

crazy... just absolutley crazy....

I'd try sampling something that if you do like ....it's not going to haunt or break you if you buy it.

On a more serious note, X is my favorite from Clive Christian. But I don't like it enough to pay those prices; if I did, I suppose I would.

There's a smaller size for $300-something.

But if you like X, check out CDG White as well as Chergui. They're not the same, but could be less-expensive substitutes if necessary...

Wise words.

Or just try get a decant instead. I never love any fragrance to the point of wanting to wear it everyday. With over 30 fragrances on rotation, even 10 ml will go a very long way for me...

Oscar Wilde said, "I have the simplest of tastes. I am only satisfied with the best." In all seriousness, I don't think all great scents come expensively, just as great food is not always found in premium restaurants.

The nose (or palate) should be the test. One of my fav houses is Parfum d'Empire. I reach for their Cuir Ottoman and Ambre Russe all the time.

Get the travel size. You get small quantities of all 3 scents for 300.
