Marbert Homme - Any experience?

Good Morning - Just wondering if anyone has any experience of Marbert Homme as pictured below?

There's very little info on here about it (1 Review) and given that it's from 1988 I was wondering if it is a typical 'powerhouse' fragrance of the time. The review seems to suggest it's pretty strong...!

Hi Derby, you picked out a real cheapo!
I´m curious about the replies, too.

Marbert is, as far as I know, a German perfumer. Judging by their obscurity they must only operate in Germany.

Hi Killer_Vavoom - Have you sampled this or is this just what you've heard / read?

Hi, I bought this 5 years ago. It was in a beige box (different packaging) and smelt like a stronger version of Cool Water. It was dirt cheap. I couldn't wear it so I gave it to the watchman of my building.

Cheers

You can find Marbert products on douglas.de ,but they don't ship internationally. It seems this perfume has a new look http://www.douglas.de/douglas/D%C3%B...000035704.html.

I had the one in the Red Box - I believe it was called just Malbert it was a strong vetiver patchouli scent. A real STINK-O that gives powerhouses a bad rep.

i have marbert homme. my box looks just like the one you posted.
it's a darkish, nice comfortable scent.
this: http://www.karstadt.de/dbimages/be/1/1669041311_g.jpg
is the original 1980s bottle the contents of which, allegedly, were much stronger than the reformulated/slightly diluted version I own which is available from some german shops now.
here's the reformulation bottle:
http://scentdirect.com/imagescent/751.jpg
that new bottle has no orange 'lining' on the nozzle, be warned.
a totally different ('modern') marbert homme packaging/bottle design is available, too, but i have never tested it.
i like my marbert homme a lot but i would not refer to it as a powerhouse cologne. perhaps you should try and investigate in germany. the original is very hard to obtain.hope this helps.

Any of you know what this one smells like?

Shamu1, Derby@

Yes I own(ed) both Marbert Homme and Marbert Gentleman (versions as pic showed by Shamu1).
You can see both bottles upfront of my collection pics I posted some months ago in my profile as well on the powerhouse site.
I bought both during a trip with my gf to Koln last year September for 12 euros a piece, 100 ml.
In the meantime I already sold both for the same price as I didn't like them that much.

I bought Marbert Gentleman cause I have a mini bottle (see pic of my mini bottles) of that one which smells good but this new version is not a shadow of its former self. For me both are a herbal, spicy mess and one of them (Gentleman) now has a certain note I really don't like. Homme, (if I recall correctly as maybe I am mixing them up as I only sprayed them both twice and then already decided I had to get rid of them), smelled like a kind of very worse version of Chevignon Brand. Like a mutilated brother so to speak. Chevignon (Whiskey like bottle) is one of my fav, but Marbert Homme, is really bad.
Maybe those other versions smell different, at least the vintage Gentleman does.

And no, they both (newest versions) have nothing in common with Cool Water..............nothing!

Below an old collection pic where you can see both bottles upfront, as I still had both by then!:

Hi Guys
I have the bottle as pictured here ...
I believe its the vintage version ..
I scored a bottle some 3 months ago .
I have used in on 3 occasions ... & im not good at decribing frags .
But !! upon first wearing it reminded me of "One Man Show" with a dash of Quorum .
A classy strong , refined frag , thumbs up by me .
& as Slayerised pointed out .... nothing like CW .

I think there are 3 versions of Marbert Homme. The real vintage, the 75 ml you and Derby showed (second version) and my version (the newest shown on my pic and by Shamu1, which is 100ml). The same for Marbert Gentleman.

If you want a good frag of this house, try Marbert Man Classic!

But still pretty strong, Dimitrios? I'm harping on it because I'm thinking of buying this blind. I trust your powerhouse credentials.

Shamu1, did u read my posts?

Trust me and don't buy it, the new version (as we both showed) is absolutely not worth it! (and no, it's not a powerhouse by the way!)

Why u think it's only 12 euros for 100 ml even in stores where you have to pay the highest price for normal frags (Douglas Germany and other main perfume stores over there), eg almost 30 euros for 50 ml's of CK One, lol

I think I know your taste a little and I am sure you find this current version one big mess, but u can be my guest and make the same mistake I did, lol.

What version do you actually want to buy blind and for what price?? (also for 12 euros? (17 dollars))

I did read your comments, Slayer, but at the same time, when I hear a description like "One Man Show meets Quorum", I can't help but be interested. Plus, Ken Russell wrote a really good review of it, and his description sounds like a frag I'd like.

You can buy a bottle of it, all fine with me, it was just my advice knowing a little your taste.

By the way, I am constantly talking about the latest formulation! The one I had/the one you showed on your posted pic............
Maybe the 75 ml or even older bottle is way better than this one!
Like Marbert Gentleman of which the vintage mini bottle I have is really good and latest formulation sucks big big time!

Still I think you would like Marbert Man Classic more than Marbert Homme.

Yes Shamu .... It certainly is ..... (( vintage juice ))
Its not borderline , it bats with the heavies & is definately PH worthy .
For those considering purchasing , do consider Slayer's comments re: current formulation being weak .
But as we all know most reformulations are .. (( i have never tried current juice ))

Marbert Man is actually the one I want the most. This is an old Seventies frag, and all I've heard is that it's a powerhouse to kill all other powerhouse frags.
The vintage Marbert Man is one powerful frag, almost to the point of crudity (i likes). I wonder if a recent/modern version (per Slayerised's picture above) can be as powerful. Another good one is Marbert Pure Man, a more leathery and animalic version of Man. I am not sure that is still in production though.
