Good morning all and Happy Bastille day for those celebratingToday I'm off to meet a friend over some coffee. she's also one of the few friends that also apreciate niche perfumes and scents in general. Looking forward to get out of the apartment a bit, since I tend to think too much when I'm here. A good thing my brother and sister also are here for the holiday! Sotd is Dzing! No real summer heat here, just rain, so I can still wear my spicy scents without any problems of cloyingness

Testing (again) YSL Elle today. Had to wear something French, mais oui?

Equistrius - Parfum d'Empire

Vive la France!!!

Jo Malone Vanilla & Anise
Notes: bergamot, neroli, wild fennel flower, star anise, oleander, tuberose, frangipani, purple vanilla orchid, clove, white amber, vetiver, vanilla bourbon absolute, tonka bean

Despite that rather hearty-sounding note listing, this is a sheer, almost watery fragrance, with transparent florals and a non-foody vanilla. I love anise in fragrances and can pick out its refreshing character here, yet it is subtle and well-blended. Very soothing and pretty scent.

Take care, everyone!

Happy Bastille Day to a culture that embraces the finer things in life: food, wine, FRAGRANCE and a joie de vivre attitude!!!

Today, I'm continuing to wear a french beauty, L'Artisan's Dzing!

Vive la France! Vive la République!

I'm sampling some vintage Caron Infini pdt this morning (thanks L! ). I can't smell much...I'm waiting for my skin to warm it up so I can begin to get what it's all about.

Have a good day, all!

Après La Mousson. Well, it rained a little yesterday. Not exactly a monsoon, but any excuse!

The Elle did not work...turned sour on my skin after a wonderful 30 minutes. It's been scrubbed off and I've got on a single spritz of Bois de Paradis.

Yardley English Rose today.

Happy Bastille Day! Think I'll join petrucciji in Etat Libre d'Orange Jasmin et Cigarette!

(Tested DSH's Nouveau Gardenia this morning. After a first blast reminiscent of superglue, it settled into a rather realistic gardenia. Will test again, as longevity didn't seem too good--but I often have that problem, in the morning especially.)

Sampling Matin Calin by CSP and guess what: The reviews are right - it DOES smell like baby vomit. Blech.

Infini just did not want to come out and play today. Can't say I blame it in this heat. I've moved on to Pure White Linen, which has been one of my very favorites now for a long time. So strange that it would turn out to be this one, but I can't be without it.

Am wearing Guerlain Mitsouko in honor of our Frenchies! (And because I like it and haven't worn it in a few days.) But mostly — to honor our Frenchies!
We're in the single-digit countdown days to the Big Basenotes Boston Bash!

SOTD: Nicolai's Odalisque

In contemplating my next Nicolai purchase(s?), I realized that I've been neglecting the ones I already own! This one is a beauty...

It was Guerlain's L'Heure Bleue Parfum today. Smelled up close, L'Heure Bleue has the same delightful effect as a multicoloured Indian spice market.

This evening I'm testing some oceanic scents. I've tried Ebba's By Sea, and it was lovely the ten minutes it stuck around, and Il Profumo's Aria di Mare, which was also nice for about ten minutes.

Now I've moved onto Acqua di Sale by Profumum. Oh my god. Want. That's fantastic. It's fresh and marine and it smells breezy and if it were a colour it would be a very bright turquoise. I love it. In By Sea and Aria di Mare, there seemed to be a lot of violet (violet in marine scents?!), but there's none of that in Acqua di Sale. It's pure ocean. Maybe the Adriatic Sea.

So that's probably going straight on my wishlist. Another one! Sigh.

After a day in Coco Mademoiselle and a late afternoon in "KH1" I am now fragrant with vintage Aramis, vetiver and moss and patchouli and sandalwood heaven! (The bottle I got from a Basenoter is pretty doggone close to my original "this is Aramis" mystery scent from years ago...) Goes nicely with the basil and tomato smell permeating the house as I cook down 15 lbs. of tomatoes, various herbs and spices, to "put up" a few pints of tomato sauce.

Happy Bastille Day!

Bonsoir. I celebrated La Fête Nationale by grouting the tub surround. Yay! my life has become soooo exciting. But I am very excited thinking about our get-together next week, it will be such fun.

For my day of grouting I wore Nocturnes de Caron, which is such a perfect scent on a summer day; especially for physically stressful work.

Tonight I am wearing Saso by Shiseido which is nice and relaxing.

Take care all and hugs for everyone.

Happy Bastille Day!!

Today I wore Straight to Heaven by Kilian. When I came home from work my husband complimented my scent and was shocked to hear that he wears it sometimes and that it smells even better on him!. I guess he lets me spray whatever I want on him on the weekend and half the time he does not pay attention to what it is.

I started out with something else but after an hour I got the craving to spray Guerlian Vetiver on my neck.

I thought I had an indecisive Libra spell. Not so--It's Bastille Day! And the first one was not French.

Vive la France

Ok Ok, you right. singing and swayin' to Ray Stephens: "Evrything is beauuuuu-ti-ful, in it's own waaaay, Like the starry summer night, or a snow-covered winter's daaaaay. And everybody's beautiful in their own way.
Under God's heaven, the world's gonna find the way"

Nite nite, your highness
