It seems that a "sequel" of sorts is in the offing already for Paul Smith MAN. eScentual.com has it for pre-order!

I tried this today in a Boots store here in Dublin. It very, very strongly reminds me of another men's fragrance that I smelled a few years ago, but I can't recall which one. It's a little like Paul Smith Man, but more harsh and very synthetic, to my nose anyway. Something in it is really overpowering everything else. The most likely culprits are the cinnamon and lavender, but overall it's a thumbs down from me. There's no way I'd want to smell like this. It's very "chemical" smelling, bordering on unpleasant.

I tried this at the weekend. It is recognisably similar to a lot of other fragrances. I wont say it is a 'ripoff' of Le Male, just a variation on a theme. That theme being Caron Pour Un Homme (the story goes that JPG asked Francis Kurkdjian to use PuH as a 'template').

The variation is to tone down the aromatics (theres no mint for instance) and bring up the spices (cinnamon).

This 'Le Male but not quite Le Male' part of the market is already very crowded (212 Sexy Man, Ghost Man, Hypnose Homme, Jacomo Rouge, PE 360 White, Armand Basi Homme, Joop Jump.... did I forget any?)
