DRY.AS.HELL. A really wonderful scent, so unlike anything else out there. Speaks of class and maturity. If I had to winnow my fragrance wardrobe down to five, this would be amongst the survivors;...
I tried this fragrance earlier today and was immediately in love with the scent.
It smelled to me like a light version of Terre D'Hermes (and therefore my wife didn't like it).
I think it can...
JP Gaultier, eat you heart out, this perfume is much more wearable than your horrible mess called Le Male.
Take Le Male and get rid of the gnashing of my teeth inducing "toothpaste (called...
This is one of the best Bay Rums in the value/price ratio score, some bay rums are way too expensive for what you get (Royall, Caribbean Imported, Saint John's, Dominica Imported, West Indies,...
I'm still up , but it is technically Thursday so I'll post. I'm in some of my newly acquired bottle of Guerlain With Love
Too many of you regular posters said it was good, so I had to seek out, of course. What's not to LOVE? it's a Guerlain.
Quarry, SMM, Brielle, and everyone else making the trek to Bean-town.
So excited!
Just over a week to go till the meet-up.
My SOTD is Parfumerie Generale - Papyrus de Ciane.
Notes include bergamot, galbanum, neroli, broom, solar notes, lavender, mugwort, clove, incense, cistus labadanum, hedione, vetiver, Mousse de Saxe, Silvanone and white musk.
Good morning everyone Today I'm very excited about an outdoors festival that takes place at one of the beaches in Tromsø.
( www.bukta.no) A friend arranged it so that I ended up on the Guestlist, so didn't have to pay anything and get acess to the backstagearea The weather is not too good though....Cloudy and hopefully it will stay that way, and not rain! This is the perfect day for Chergui, so that is my sotd. Have a nice one all!
Tauers L'air du desert marocain hoping that, in addition to smelling lovely, that this will magically sweep all of the humidity from the air on this muggy, damp morning!
I went to the press evening of our gallery opening Tuesday night and bought Lust, Mark's new jasmine perfume. I'm wearing it today. My favourite jasmine for a long while has been Alien because it's abstract and, well, alien in its strange megaphone-metallic jasmine interpretation.
After sampling A La Nuit by Serge Lutens and finding it just too flower-vase-y and syrupy, I imagined that I'd never find a really stonking jasmine sent that I'd enjoy. Just about the only soliflores I like are mimosa and orange blossom scents.
Mark's Flying Fox product perfume for Lush is sickly in my opinion - it's got jasmine and honey in such high quantities that I can't quite live with it.
This Lust perfume though? Well, when I first sprayed it at the lab, it was really strong and I thought it'd be another Flying Fox experience. A couple of hours later I couldn't stop sniffing my arm. I really really love it.
Looking forward to pics and full reports from Boston! No pressure of course, well, maybe a little bit
I'm in one of my favorite staples today, MPG Fleur d'Iris.
SOTE last night (since I didn't get on to post) was Possets Silver Carnation. I don't know that you can do better for an inexpensive carnation! It's lovely and only $10.
SOTD today is Estee Lauder Bali Dream, though I now wish I sprayed something lighter as I woke up with a headache. I do love this one though it's almost identical to Ma Dame (Ma Dame is more juicy & Bali Dream is dry).
I am testing another heavenly rosy scent this afternoon!
Brulure de Rose
Eau de Parfum
by Parfumerie Generale
Notes:rose, amber, raspberry ,musk , vanilla and cocoa.
This is a sweet gourmand chocolate rose aroma!Love it!
Resurrected an old fave I've ignored for a while: AbdesSalaam Profumo's Oak Moss (which isn't really oak moss). A soft greenie that I think I need to share with flathorn. It smells natural and discreet, generally vegetal, with no other distinct notes poking through. The front end is a little more fun than the drydown.
Brielle, I was just looking at your smiling, dimpled face at facebook, and I'm completely in love with you. Chaya says she hopes I like hugs. How wonderful a thing to say is that? Envy me more, I get one-on-one travel time with Pomander across countryside which I am studying in advance, courtesy of a Smithsonian natural America guidebook, so I will be able to "read the landscape" and see through time, deciphering what came about after glacial retreat and what is purely the product of European introduction. Ubu, has it been a whole year already? I long to hear your voice again. ComDiva, my special soul friend, I don't think that travel will make me feel any closer to you than I already do, but let's find out. SMM, you are forewarned, I will leave you bruised from heartfelt clutching. Thank you so much for making so many people happy.
And now, Knit at Night, what will we do with you? You should be banking up some sleep and clearing your desk, but I suspect you'll be skidding into Boston at full gallop. How about that With Love drydown? Soft as baby-chick butt-cheeks, no?
Mr. G, you keep slaying me with those studio shots. I've worked with good photogs, and I have a high appreciation for this sort of photography, the lighting and composition.
Duckie, that was one pretty poison froggie. I meant to say that yesters. Ain't evolution the greatest artist?
The brain is tripping out in happy anticipation of next week. It should be playing Tuca Tuca on endless loop, since I was just getting to know the Lush edition. [Waves to Pia.] Instead, the brain volunteered the following earworm this morning, and now I'm stuck with this manic song playing and stomping around in my head. (I may be crazy, but there's nothing wrong with eyeing Hugh Jackman.)
Hello dear BNers! Boston weekend sounds like such fun!
Today is my/our 10th wedding anniversary. My SOTD will be either vintage No. 19 parfum or AG Rose Absolue; DH gave me these FBs as gifts in the last couple of years. Or, perhaps we'll go find a new bottle to celebrate this milestone (Les Exclusifs? L'Heure Bleue? Hm)...
Have a great day, all!
***note added - I just realized that maybe it's a little, um, weird to buy "L'Heure Bleue" to mark a wedding anniversary. Ha!***
Quarry, I cannot WAIT to see you (notice I don't say "meet" since I feel I will know you in a second) and all our other BN buddies next week! Woo-hoo!!!
My SoTD is Guerlain Chamadefrom my mini Bee bottle! The guerlainade is a touch problematic for me (as usual), but overall a truly delightful scent.
phthalo, let me know if the L'air du etc does, in fact, magically remove humidity. (I'll buy a case of it if it works!) Happy anniversary RainDropSparkle!! Why lilybelle, I do declare! You look quite comfy in your cotton candy cloud!
Wearing a vintage Eau d'Arpège this afternoon. Very nice! (very reminiscent of Chamade! Could that be? I'll have to try some side by side this evening. Looking up notes - they seem to have jasmine, Ylang-ylang, rose, lily of the valley, vanilla, sandalwood in common... )
Wedding dress fitting in NYC today, daughter's wedding next month. Can we change that show to "Don't obsess about the dress"! or "don't second guess the real expensive dress", "don't make your life a mess, worrying about the dress."
Just a quick note to thank dear Haunani, Mimi, Lilybelle, dora, oolala, CRose, G.303, musse, ComDiva, and RHM. (Did I miss anyone?) - Basenoters are such a sweet bunch...
Lilybelle, I LOVE the shadow box. Now I suddenly feel compelled to go out and shop for a lovely little box like that one for our home...
My SOTD was the No. 19 parfum. We escaped from work at midday to grab lunch at one of our favorite noodle shops (no, not romantic, but something we like to do) & then he accompanied me to L'Occitane where I picked up this pretty Peony EDT...and then helped me pick up the big load of "pre-sale items" from Nordies.
Thank you all again....looking forward to Guerlain Friday tomorrow!
