Unsweetened leather?

I love the opening of Knize Ten - but the ambery sweetness of the drydown is a dealbreaker for me.
Do any of you guys/gals know of a good, unsweetened leather?

Thanks for any help or advice!

Matthew, have you tried Montale's Oud Cuir d'Arabie? Minimal sweetness from the rose.

I had that one and sold it due to poor longevity. I loved the way it smelled though, so your suggestion is spot on!
Thanks matthewfoo

Thanks matthewfoo

Now that you mentioned it, I do think I recall seeing it on your sale thread sometime ago.
You're always welcome, Matthew. Hope you manage to find something that's good and lasts!

Eau D'Hermes, PERIOD,,,you'll love it, I promise.

How about PG Cuir d'Iris? Amber is included in the notes, but I recall detecting it - it seemed very dry. And lasts f-o-r-e-v-e-r.

Aramis

Cuiron, end of story.

For the record, I find Tuscan Leather to be dry but sweet, and I find Aramis to be more of a patch frag than a leather.

Eau d'Hermes is a good suggestion, but be warned that it may go powdery on you.

I tried Cuiron some time ago, but I remember thinking it was very tame - I like the aggressive opening of K10 or Oud Cuir d'Arabie.
I need to try samples of the Tuscan Leather and Cuir d'Iris. Is the CdI very Iris-y?
I really liked Eau d'Hermes, but to me it was more about cardamom than leather. Also, it had longevity problems on me...

Thanks for all the suggestions so far - very thoughtful!

Yeah, Tuscan Leather.

Let us know. I find the opening of Tuscan Leather to be a tad sweet, but it doesn't last long and then it's pretty linear leather.

Bandit is rather brutal and ballsy.

I like and wear Giorgio V.I.P. for a dark, unsweetened woody leather. It's brooding, but not melancholy.....and packs some punch.
