For all those who have bought/smelled REAL Castoreum...

I am interested in buying some Castoreum, if indeed the note is 100% what I think it is:

I smell a somewhat dry, dirty, very masculine, almost "sawdusty/hairy", yet thick and greasy note, in all 3 of these scents:

Grain de Plaisir by Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier

Royal Scottish Lavender by CREED

Cruel Intentions by Kilian

Is this sawdust/masculine/buzzy/heavy/dirty note I smell in all 3 a good representation of true Castoreum as I expect it to be? ANd if it is, has anyone been able to source some that has this same distinct aroma?

Or perhaps is it an amalgamation of other notes I am seeking?

I have a bottle of Dubrano's castoreum tincture.
I would agree with 'sawdusty/hairy', a little dirty and dry & I suppose I can see the analogy of 'very masculine'
I would not call it thick or greasy though. The ultimate drydown - for me anyway - is probably best described as leathery.

I have tried Creed's RSL and Cruel Intentions but did not make the castoreum connection in those two.
Time to revisit it seems.

I don't know those scents apart from Cruel Intentions, which does seem to include castoreum. I've recently acquired Yatagan and I find castoreum to be a stronger presence in it.

You can get a 50 ml dilution of true castoreum from www.profumo.it. (God help you.)

I'm more interested in sourcing undiluted castoreum if this accord I'm seeking actually is true castoreum, as I plan to use it discreetly in a certain composition I'm working on.

I've smelled Profumo.it's castoreum (ie. Dominique Dubrano's) and from what I remember, it was slightly sweet, smooth and leathery and surprisingly, not that dirty. It was kind of dry, but there was more of a buttery feel to it than anything, like I was smelling my dog's head or something.. It's really hard for me to describe.

I didn't get the dry hair/sawdust thing, but maybe that's just subjective perception.
