If you could pick your fragrances just out of 1 brand

Thread Starter
If you could build your wardrobe just out of 1 designer/niche brand what brand it would be?

Please, also post fragrance names and their role in such "virtual" wardrobe.

Thank you

I would (as Im sure many others might also) choose Guerlain.

Derby: my debonair evening scent
Habit Rouge EDP: My All-day - anyday companion
Vol de Nuit vintage extrait: My special occasion / spoil-myself scent
Shalimar: Cosy evening at home
Jicky parfum: For when I would like to be conspicuous

Comme des Garcons

I like a majority of their fragrances, and they tend to be unique/quirky - and not outrageously overpriced.
Looking at my wardrobe the majority I have are either from Xerjoff or Creed, so Xerjoff easily wins for me out of those two.

Nio: This is my favourite from this line, so I use this for those special occasions, romantic evenings out with the mrs, or on those days where you just think what the heck, I like it so if I run out I'll have to get another bottle

Kobe: This is my any time of the day, fresh lift me up scent.

Uden: There's just something about this one that makes it so unusual, but in a good way. Along with Nio, this is a fragrance I've had loads of compliments whilst wearing, so I use it simply when I feel like a change from the other's I have.

Fiero: I mostly use this during the evening or on colder days, due to it being a spicy/aromatic citrus, that has a lovely warmth to it.

I agree with Sorcery on Guerlain:

Derby EDT, elegant and floral with magnificent leather
Habit Rouge EDT: the great one I reach for when I can't decide on anything else!
Habit Rouge EDP (Beau Cavalier in North America): I love the agarwood
Shalimar EDP and EDT
Shalimar Eau Legere, sadly discontinued: wonderful vanilla
Jicky
Mouchoir de Monsieur: lavender with civet and a touch of vanilla

I'd go with Serge Lutens. Between Chergui, Ambre Sultan, Vetiver Oriental, and Gris Clair - I'm good to go any time and for any occassion. The most consistently quality house I've yet encountered.

Dior Dior Dior Dior Dior Dior Dior Dior Dior Dior Dior Dior Dior

Fahrenheit/Absolute - for my butch days
Dune pour Homme - for beach wear/hot weather days
Dior Homme/Intense - my guaranteed seduction elixirs
Poison - the biggest 'must have' in the world of fragrances
Hypnotic Poison - for my sexy days
Tendre Poison - like Dune; for the hot days
Miss Dior Chérie - it's just that good, a need to own frag
Dolce Vita - nostalgic sillage and longevity monster
Dior Addict - fragrance de la candy galore
Dioressence - signals cool class

... to name a few!

CHANEL

Antaeus – Darkly sensual leather and beeswax
Bois des Îles – Sweet, aldehydic sandalwood
Chanel No 19 – Crisp and green, versatile, works anytime, anywhere
Cuir de Russie – Luxurious leather, a little bit naughty and nice
Sycomore – Elegant, crisp, floral vetiver

And there are of course more fantastic Chanels I haven't mentioned. My second choice for a house would be Guerlain, hands down. I would really be happy with either, to tell the truth.
Creed so far, among houses I know.

The "indispensables" would be:

GIT
Windsor

To rotate according to weather and mood:

Tabarome Millesime (I must be the only one to like it more than the Vintage) - great winter scent
Original Vetiver (moderately hot weather)
OR Citrus Bigarrade (very hot weather - Bois de Cedrat or Selection Verte can be substituted under this chapter in different years)
"disappeared" love - Verveine Narcisse (no juice left)
RSLavender (only once in a blue moon)
Bois du Portugal (same - great fragrance, just not so much my style)

I am quite familiar with most of the other Creeds, including the female ones, but don't think I like them as much. There are some which I admire but I wouldn't wear.

There are a couple which give me headaches: SMW, Royal Delight, and Original Santal, for instance.

Us both.

I agree with you. Their style satisfies me more than any other house does. Plus, they have a relatively large portfolio - so many scents to choose from. With the exception of MKK, I tend to use random SLs for random occasions. With MKK, I'm more selective over when I wear it.

it is tough to say. designer would be ysl but Creed would be the niche.

Creed

1. Millesime imperial for the summers, great versatile fragrance

2. Bois du portugal for cooler weather, professional and a sexy fragrance that James Bond would wear

3. Virgin island water for my more festive days and vacations

4. Vintage tabarome for important and formal occasions

5. Acier alumium the essence of sex candidate for sure this reeks sexiness

6. Royal english leather for work

7. green irish tweed for any occasion, it is right anytime

8.Vetiver for the warm weather but still feel mature and professional

9.Tabarome millesime for a professional fresh scent

10.Silver mountain water for a casual fresh scent

I'd have a tough time living with just one house, as I don't really like more than two or three from anywhere...

YSL

M7 - Evening, cooler weather
Rive Gauche PH - Anytime, anywhere
Kouros Fraicheur - Day
Opium Eau d'Orient - Evening, warm weather

Creed or Guerlain; can't decide.

Lots of scents I love with those two. More with Creed, but the scents I love from Guerlain are hard to match.

Habit Rouge Beau Cavalier
L'Instant de Guerlain Pour Homme EdT and EdP
Vetiver

Off the top of my head, I'm actually thinking about Davidoff. Consider some of their offerings:

Cool Water and all the flankers: Fine aquatics
Good Life: Great lemon
Adventure: Good Woody scent
Silver Shadow Altitude: Great aquatic type scent
Echo: Used to be a favorite of mine

I don't know many other houses that could be as good and versatile as Davidoff, and still not break the bank.
Team Guerlain Here!

All the usual suspects...
To second the posts on this board, I could most likely stay either within the boundaries of Guerlain or YSL or Creed
post #18 of 54
Parfumerie Generale ... its an all things to all people house , they pretty much got everything covered in their range

My house of preference would be Guerlain. Home of extraordinary and mysterious Mitsouko.

Amouage

Luxurious, formal/evening/dinner: Epic and Jubilation xxv
Night-club/pub/bar: Reflection
Elegant day (and evening wear): Dia and Silver
Casual spring/summer: Amouage Ciel.

I'd probably have to go with Serge Lutens as well, but CDG wouldn't be very far behind.

Chergui
Vetiver Oriental
Gris Clair
Ambre Sultan
L'Eau

Tom Ford

I am starting to try some Serge Lutens and I think I could live with alot of thier offerings
post #27 of 54
anything and everything Thierry Mugler. Everything this guy has impresses me, its great stuff imo
post #28 of 54
I've got to do justice to the houses I've thought could be my exclusive house: once it was Guerlain, then it was L'Artisan, then it was Caron, then it was Diptyque.

I think it's still Diptyque.
Its pretty close between CDG and Hermes.
A toss up between Chanel, Guerlain and Amouage (or even Montale)
too hard -_-
No way! I can't live without Caron, Guerlain and Serge Lutens. Allow me three houses and here they are.
It's a tie between

&

I will probably go with Amouage

- Gold Men
- Lyric Men
- Epic Men
- Jubilation XXV

...

And the favourites are still coming.
Creed - with Lutens, Caron, and Penhaligon's not far behind.

Millesime Imperial.
Green Irish Tweed.
Silver Mountain Water.
Bois du Portugal.
Baie de Genievre.
Original Vetiver.
Erolfa.
Original Santal.
Neroli Sauvage.
I'd have to go with YSL

Rive Gauche PH: You can't go wrong - perfect anytime
M7: A masterpiece
M7 Fresh: The masterpiece for summer
Jazz: Carnation!!!
Davidoff: cool water, cool water frozen, cool water freeze me, cool water fresh summer, cool water game....emmm ok that was a joke.

I think i go with team YSL

I like Mugler, but the offer is too limited: A*Men series and Mugler Cologne... not versatile or varied enough
I love Issey Miyake: same problem, i LOVE 2 of its ¿3-4 male fragances? Superb quality but lacks variety
Chanel: ok i could go with chanel... close to YSL

Big Names like Lutens, Creed, Frederic Malle are not easy to find here in Sevilla, so i've never been able to try them (i've found Creed 30 minutes by car from home, maybe i go and try them, but i imagine there going to be EXPENSIVE in a "more expensive than any other country style")
So far, Guerlain hands down:

- Vetiver
- Habit Rouge
- Coriolan
- Shalimar
- Mitsouko
Creed

Hermes and Maitre trailing.

For me, L'Artisan.
Penhaligon's would win but I would miss the subtle magic of most Kenzo and the aggressive craziness of the YSLs
post #42 of 54
Creed...and I wouldn't like being that restricted.
Amouage - not because of their price or even ostensibly higher quality or what have you, but primarily because my two grail scents - Lyric Man and Reflection Man - come from that house. I also really love Ciel Man, which I feel is a 'best of class' fragrance, and adore Silver and Jubilation XXV as well (although find it too strong sometimes). If I was restricted to only Amouage, I'd surely find myself wearing Jubilation 25 and Reflection Woman from time to time as well, although perhaps not out of the house.
Lacoste, each fragrance is unique and smells great. With the exception of Challenge, which I'm not too fond of.
L'Artisan for me too. But really I'm not into perfume-house monogamy.
Amouage

Ubar - The ultimate Oriental, for evenings and seduction
Dia Woman - for anytime anywhere, a perfect soapy clean rose aldehydic
Ciel Woman - a soft Oriental green, for hot days and feeling feminine
Ciel Man - For those dressed and smart work days
Gold Woman - For evenings and entertaining, a metallic, lush glamorous notice-me scent
Lyric Woman - A heady, deep rose for nighttime and cooler weather
Lyric Man - A soapier rose, for day wear and work
Reflection Woman - A clear melon green with an ambery drydown, for vacationing and beachy stuff
Tribute Attar - For night times and seduction, a heavy smoked rose
Homage Attar - For dreaming and meditation, a magical therapeutic rose
Opus I - For day wear and work
Opus III - For evenings out, social occasions
Silver Woman vintage - for smart, elegant yet understated occasions
Eau d'Amouage vintage - For the heat and work and invigoration.
Silver Cologne (new) - For especially zippy days, when a sharp, leather chypre is called for.
After a day and night's thinking about the topic, it would have to be Amouage.

There's a scent for any mood/occasion.

CLEARLY, Serge Lutens for me, too.
Chergui will almost have a special place in my heart or is it nose?
Ambre Sultan for a reference amber.
The true treasures are in the bell jar exclusive line - Rose de Nuit, Fourreau Noir, La Myrrhe, Cuir Mauresque and and...
A huge spectrum to accompany my personality and moods

Virgin Island Water - a cocktail of freshness suitable for hot weather
Royal Water - elegant, classy, animalic.
Royal Delight - sweet seductive leather for evening wear only
Tabarome Millesime - perfectly casual, undeniably masculine
Millesime Imperial - the name fits the juice perfectly, a very noble royal-like vibe
Original Vetiver - a field of green grass in a bottle
Himalaya - casual, comforting and definitely masculine
Erolfa - the waves, the breeze, the beach - Erolfa
