Guerlain Vetiver or Frederic Malle Vetiver Extraordinaire?

Which one? Why?

Guerlain Vetiver EDT (vintage) - it's better and cheaper.

Start with the Guerlain. It's easy to make a lifetime scent and thus eclipse out other vetivers. Easy to acquire and less expensive. VE is so good and so expensive it becomes one of those you're afraid to use.

They're both quite good, and to me, a bit similar.

Vetiver Extraordinaire is worth the extra change. More potent and better longevity for me.

I would go for VE
The Guerlain gives me this Hay like note that I can not stand

Thanks guys.

Hey Stylin - any room for both, or are they just too similar?

Having both...I must say that I prefer Frederic Malle's Vetiver Extraordinaire hands down...it's base notes are far more intoxicating than Guerlain's, which kind of borders on being grassy whereas VE is more sandalwood...yes, it's more expensive but in this case, totally worth it...despite the cost, I never hesitate to wear it...and NEVER regret wearing it...one of my absolute favourite's!

Guerlain by miles, in my opinion.
The Malle seems so sanitized and soul-less in comparison - the Guerlain seems to get more and more interesting with each full wear, year after year...

I gotta say Guerlain

I don't care for the dry down in Vetiver Extroidinare. I found it too sickly sweet.

Vetiver Extraordinaire

I don't think they are very similar.

I haven't smelled it in a while but there was a sort of (minty almost) freshness to the Malle that I liked. I have the Malle.

That said... if you like the Guerlain Vetiver, it's a classic, and much cheaper.

Completely agree. VE hands down.

I agree. Guerlain is the benchmark vetiver. Although I might try it again sometime, VE seemed too crude/rough to me.

I'd have to go with the Guerlain hands down, I found Vetiver Extraordinaire somewhat soulless and the first impression paled compared to that of the GV.

I'd say both. I have a vintage bottle of the Guerlain, and it's one of my favourites. The Malle is on my wishlist. Maybe you should get the Guerlain first since it's cheaper?

Lol. Just checked OPs wardrobe. Vetiver Extraordinaire ended with 1 star rating.

Never buy blind, especially when it is $200+ stuff!

For me this was a weird thread title, lol, cause for me out of a sea of vetivers I have put my nose on, guerlains is my least favorite and ve is in my top 5. I absolutely adore ve!
