I walked by a L'Occitane store yesterday and decided to stop in. I sprayed Eau de Baux on a tester strip and then on my arm. It took me all of two sniffs before I got that all too rare gut feeling compelling me to purchase a full bottle. This has only happened to me maybe three or four times that I can remember, and never with such a cheap fragrance ($50 for a 3.4oz bottle, including tax).
Eau de Baux is smooth, natural and easy to wear. It avoids the cliches and overall feeling of "cheapness" that seem to pervade many designer scents and, in my opinion, holds its own against fragrances costing three or four times as much. It wears fairly close to the skin, but does project a bit, and the longevity seems to be very good. It's linear, and that's a good thing here. Also, it seems to be extremely versatile--I could see wear it year-round in any setting (day/night, office, etc.).
It was thrilling to discover such an unexpected treat that costs so little. I see this one making its way into my regular rotation from this point forward.
