Clothes have to match the fragrance: Green Shirts & Vetiver

You feel like you have to wear something green to wear vetiver? I do. And I hate it. Why do I feel this way?

Help me break my mold!

No way, man. I'm a HUGE vetiver lover and what I'm wearing never even crosses my mind. Granted, I work in a professional environment so I'm in a starched shirt and trousers every day, but I NEVER hesitate to wear vetiver. Suit and tie or flip-flops and shorts - vetiver's always appropriate (to me, anyway).

I hear ya. I feel I can wear it at work (office type as well), or with shorts & flip flops as well... but I feel I just have to wear a green shirt.... ARG! lol....

Green shirt? I can`t imagine someone wearing a green shirt.. That`s bad taste! I would go for white shirt + vetiver.
That's funny, lol. I agree there is a certain solid earthiness to vetiver that speaks of formality and taste. Definitely a crisp white shirt. But if you feel you must wear something green, how about you work that color in? Like a tie or even your underpants perhaps, lol. So what happens if you wake up one morning and feel like wearing a floral?

I've done this on rare occasion but its not something I have to do.

I wear anything I want with anything I want.

Life is about feeling good. Do whatever you have to in order to feel good. If wearing green with vetiver feels good, then do it. You don't have to break a mold. Just find something that feels better.

Everything stems forth from the imagination. Just chill out............

So, does that mean you only wear yellow when wearing vanilla frags?

Perhaps if you think of brown vetiver imagery instead of green it will break the spell.

Here is a picture of a vetiver root ball to help you: http://www.secretclosetgifts.com/pro...5802000002.JPG.

Hey, don't confuse the poor guy!

I find that I do this with a number of frags. I tend to wear Terre d'Hermes or Davidoff Adventure only while wearing orange. Narciso Rodriguez calls for grey or a dark green, as does Grey Flannel. Lyric Man is black or red. Reflection is white, dark blue, or purple. Bois de Turquie is dark red or brown. Etc, etc.

I don't always do this type of color coordination, but I do feel a bit like I'm clashing when I don't. Just thought I'd post to let you know you're not the only one :P.

When I wear vetiver, especially Givenchy Vetyver and Tom Ford GV, I smell "green". I just feel awkward wearing something like a red shirt... just doesn't flow with the entire 'image' I feel I want to project.

A white shirt is good too, can go with just about everything... same with pure black.

Dress nicely, just don't restrict yourself to green. Use some behavioral and cognitive therapies.

I should try matching all of my clothing to my scent of the day.

Yatagan? Chain mail and the eponymous sword.
Bandit? Cannabis leaves and leather pants.
Kouros? I can't begin to imagine.

Honestly, just have fun with it. Incongruous mixes of clothing and scent are just so much more interesting just as long as you like what you smell.

I never was so precise about the combination between my clothes and my frags, but involuntarily, it truly happened that I've worn green polo shirts at the same time with vetiver frags

I can identify. Today I'm wearing a green linen shirt with Ferre's Acqua Azzurra. Am I going mad? Not yet, but the afternoon is still young!

There are all sorts of lovely and quite tasteful green shirts, Os! I might feel a bright lime or kelly green (depending on the cut and the fabric) would be a bit loud, but maybe again not.

Tonight, at dinner, I wore a green shirt (my Brazil T-shirt) and I wore Guerlain Vetiver. Of course I thought of this thread.

LOLS mikeperez23!

Honestly, color, mood, and design go together so much so that I tend to create designs in a particular color scheme that matches what I'm in the mood to wear that day, frags included. Of course, the project I'm working on this month is all about sustainability so it has... wait for it ... a GREEN theme. Perfecto!
