Along the lines of Obsession..

Could anyone gives me some ideas for heavy-ish orientals (male/unisex), something along the lines of CK Obsession but less obvious. So far I've tried Shallimar EDP and Envy. Any other ideas? Shallimar was quite good, and not too expensive.

I've found a good one which somewhat reminds me of Obsession is l'Occitane's Ambre. It's a simpler and more straight-forward scent, but very good IMO.

Two of my personal favorite orientals, not that they're really similar to Obsession:

Aramis JHL
Guerlain Heritage

I find both of these more complex than Obsession (but I like Obsession as well). JHL is the heavier of the two, deeply ambery with some floral notes...and is such a great value. Heritage is bright/aromatic oriental with that wonderful "guerlainade" base tinged with cedar and patchouli.

+1 on L'O's Ambre.

Imperial Opoponax by Les Nereides is not too far off the mark. Not that costly as well.

Guerlain Heritage EDP is like a much better quality Obsession for men. I wore Heritage EDP last night to work and it was so smooth and ambery. The EDT is quite a bit different, though equally wonderful (it's more woody). Try the EDP-- It's a warm, sweet, spicy oriental that could probably be worn by women too. Great musk accord. Very complex, perfect presence and sillage

Yes, Heritage

Woodland by Bath and Body works. It's very similar but IMO much better than the current offering of obsession

somehow Obession reminded me of Caron's Le troisieme Homme...
