The above proved to be a horrid read, so I switched over to: Griftopia: A Story of Bankers, Politicians, and the Most Audacious Power Grab in American History by Matt Taibbi.

Let The Great World Spin by Colum McCann

Last summer, I spent a week in Provincetown, Massachusetts. One night, having dinner by myself in a fantastic restaurant, my neighbor to my left and I got into a conversation on literature and he made me write down the name of this novel. He said he'd just finished reading it, and it blew him away. So, finally, I got around to getting it. So far, I'm really enjoying it. Very well written.

30 Roses, please let us know what you think of Coming to My Senses. I see it sometimes mentioned on blogs but haven't decided if I want to read it.

Well, I've been reading A Storm of Swords by G. Martin and feeling very guilty about it (I have to read other things right now). I have such mixed feelings about the book series so far, but whatever else the books are, they are page-turners. (On the other hand, I saw the first episode of the first HBO season, and I think it will be my last.)

The first three of the series were excellent, the fourth and fifth I can't say I'd recommend to anyone. Having read the books the HBO series isn't as interesting but I still watch it.

If you have the time I would suggest you take the *plunge*......my father gave it to me on my fifteenth birthday. It changed my future study plans......which annoyed him for about fifteen minutes!

Just finished "Best Short Stories of 1989", a terrific collection . Loved the one by Alice Munro, "Meneusetang" I think it was called. Will start Elizabeth Kostova's "The Swan Theives" for my noon read. Really enjoyed her "The Historian" so hope this on will be good, too. I was looking through my husband's GQ, it has a feature on 21 great books from the 21st century, and see several books recommended that others are reading so will have to check them out. Especially interested in reading Cormac McCarthy's "The Road".

Just finished reading Argo: How the CIA and Hollywood Pulled Off the Most Audacious Rescue in History by Antonio Mendez.

Definitely worth reading, and interesting learning the differences between the movie version and what actually went down. The backstory is the most interesting part.
