Your Favorite Fragrance has just been....discontinued!

Have any of your favorite fragrances been discontinued? What fragrance was it, and did you try to find a replacement?

Seems weird, but I have never tried Thierry Mugler Angel Men Pure Malt in my entire life, only been hearing all the hype and positive reviews about it, I WANTED TO BADLY BLIND BUY IT, only to realise that it has been discontinued. A real suxorous feeling...

Seems illogical, but that was my favourite, though I haven't tried it HAHA, but that's how badly I wanted to try it...

Woodland by B&BW (Bath & BodyWorks) has been discontinued. Not smart on their part. When Polo Crest was taken off the market, I was able to find a replacement in the name of Polo Modern Reserve. B&BW has one called Oak for Men. I have the body wash of Oak. It seems all they get rid of all good ones!!!!!!!! Shame On Them!!!!!! Copper by Countess Mara was another fav of mine. I'm probably the only basenoter that has owned that stuff.

Jaguar For Men. I have a pretty full bottle yet.

Marshmellow: You can get Pure Malt here if you really want some.

Aramis will be with us forever, so I'm good.

I used to really like Abercrombie and Fitch Woods, but hadn't touched it in years. I recently found that it had been discontinued for quite a while, and was going for crazy money on eBay. I used to have a huge bottle of it that I'd be willing to let go, but it disappeared. I do have a smaller bottle of it that belonged to my brother that I'm keeping. Not that I'm gaga over it any more, but I thought it was good enough that they'd keep it in production for a long time.

Vetiver 1948 by Creed, I got a bottle of it and plenty of samples to last me a while.

Yes, I heard recently Chypre Rouge was being discontinued (?). Got a back-up.

Last year, when MPG was going down the tubes, I bought back-up bottles of my five favorite ones, all in the 90 ml bottles. It was a wise move and I don't regret it, even though MPG is back now in some fashion. At this point, I have so many fragrances that it is increasingly rare for me to find a new one I like as well as the ones I already own, so this year I've started buying back-up bottles of my favorites when I see them at a good price - only one back-up bottle per fragrance though. I'm not going to get all "I have seven back-up bottles of Piper Nigrum" crazy.

Yeah, I heard that Douce Amere has been discontinued (or at least taken out of the export line), so I got myself a backup

There are just a few and none of them are my very favorites:
Ralph Lauren Monogram
Casual Friday
A&F Woods
KL Lagerfeld (may be around)

My favorites are Creed GIT and Terre d'Hermes, I think I'm safe on those two.

Diesel Green Masculine, Horizon, Raw Vanilla << said to be discontinued

None of these are say "top 10" favorites, maybe Raw Vanilla.

Sadly 2 of my favorite frags were discontinued but I have them both! BY Man by Dolce & Gabbana! & Nautica Competition ( original )! BY man is just wonderful & sexy! Nautica Competition its because of all the memories I have tied up with that frag! When I got it the other day I sprayed some on my wrist & was taken back some 13 yrs ago! Man what a joyful time it was!

Happened to me once: Vurt Green by PacSun. I bought 2 back up bottles...dumbest move ever considering i absolutely HATE the stuff now. I guess $20 for 2 isnt the worst fragrances mistake ive made
post #14 of 33
I'd move on. There are thousands out there to try, so I wouldn't worry about stocking up on the same one just because at the time I liked it a lot.

My recent discontinuance problem occurred when Christian Lacroix Tumulte stopped production. This very cedar fragrance is wonderful stuff. I immediately, upon hearing of Tumulte's demise, purchased four bottles, but sources are drying up now. I have found that I quite like Timbuktu by L'Artisan which may have to replace Tumulte for me. The wonderful thing about tumulte is that it layered very nicely with Encre Noir. I shall miss Tumulte.

why don't you get a flacon of it while it's still available at retail.

if you like it, and it's been discontinued, that should be a no-brainer.

oh wait...

I stock up ! Like my Guerlains - then I end up with too much .

Tuscany per Uomo Forte (Black Bottle)

I loved it so much, I went through the bottle faster than any other I have ever had. Stopped using it with about a 1/4 left. Still have it and only using on very special occasions.

Anyone know where I can get a bottle?

There will always be others. It's not important.

Are you kidding me? They smell nothing alike. SI is very creamy and 48 is a citrus vetiver.

That statement shows what type of a person you are. A man in his 30s acting like you do is sad. I do not consider it a signature scent so until then I will not buy a flacon. Although private collection frags are different stories.

Whole lot of bad judgment on your part then; nose-wise, abusive-wise, bully-wise, and deceptive-excuses-making-wise.

Lay off your fellow member and don't bully anymore.

do you even know what you are talking about? have you even SMELLED Santal Imperial?!?

I would say they smell, no exaggeration, 78% alike. same creamy, tonka-bean, sandalwood, buttery base... with a very small differentiation on the top notes.

I know this because I own Santal Imperial, and have a healthy sample of Vetiver '48. I have one on one wrist, and one on the other, right now smelling them.

They are 78% the same. and I dare anyone to say otherwise.

and what are you, a stalker? how do you know how old I am? I'm scared. you need to lay off, buddy. I was just trying to help.

I dare you to say that Santal Imperial and Vetiver '48 aren't LARGELY alike. I dare you.

otherwise, what are you talking about bullying? show me where I "bullied" anyone.

more specifically, are you a Moderator of this site? No? Didn't think so. So stick to not knowing what you're talking about regarding fragrances and stay out of the business of protecting Mr. Bond. He's a secret agent, he can fend for himself.

Unless you are his dad?

You lay off your fellow member. You've badgered, bullied, and BSed about his tastes and posts before and now you continue it on this thread. You should stop yourself from commenting on his posts in the future.

You lay off me. You get away. You are a big mean, meany-head.

You have concocted, imagined, and made up stuff for no good reason.

You should stop yourself from getting involved in situations that never existed in the first place. You should be a nice person.

Thank you for the advice. I see you mock your fellow member's anticipation of a coming edc-style scent from the house on another active thread.

I think you should lay off him.
