A*Men Pure Malt vs. A*Men Sunessence

Just wondering which one these the people that either own both or have tried both would think is the better one, if they had to choose? Which wins out in terms of lasting power and versatility do you think? I can only justify buying one of them, so which should it be?

Pure Malt. I was severely disappointed by Sunessence and plan on selling it. It's pretty much a lighter A*Men without a lot of the fun

Agreed. Pure Malt has a beautiful note from the casks it's aged in, whereas Sunessence is basically just a "borified" A*Men.

Sunessence is a bad joke. Pure Malt, although i actually like A*Men better, absolutely annihilates Sunessence in every aspect possible

to put it in better perspective you are arguably comparing the best TM fragrance (Pure Malt) to the worst (Sunessense) This is not my opinion though since I have never smelled Sunessense, this is purely off reviews from imo creditable reviewers. But I do own Pure Malt and would find it hard for TM to top that bad boy.

Pure Malt is the best
Mugler Cologne is the second best
Angel Men is the third best
B*Men is the fourth best


That's how I would rank it, I tried Sunessence yesterday by the way, the full name for Sunessence is A*Men Sunessence Edition Orage d`Ete. Basically it's a summer fresh version of Angel Men, as you can imagine, the gourmand notes are severely toned down, a citrus note is added and a blast of cleaniness as well. To me it smelled okay on the scent strip, after I applied it on my skin, it went off and I had to wash my hands...

Pure Malt is outstanding, but over-the-top for summer wear, IMO, as is regular A* Men.

As has been mentioned, Sunessence is a toned down A*Men with a little orange on top. I'm a fan of it for summer wear. If I could only own one or the other, it'd be Pure Malt hands-down.

Got a sample of Sunessence in the post this morning and having tested both scents side by side now, it's very obvious that Pure Malt is the better one by a huge distance. Sunessence is just so weak and watery. I think that in terms of a milder A*Men, the body tonic spray is a hell of a lot better. I actually prefer the body tonic to the original edt.

I feel they are different enough that they are both worthy and one isn't better than the other. Having said that, If you can only get one for now, get the Pure Malt. It's lovely stuff. Of course, Sunessence is more unique in the field. Gotta be only one? Pure Malt.

My problem with Sunessence is the strong, sharp, synthetic orange top note lasts throughout the entire fragrance. IMO, oranges + chocolate = disgusting. I wouldn't mind a watered down A*Men AT ALL (would be nice for summer), but the orange note in this is strong on my skin and smells weird as hell mixed with the chocolate and patchouli. I love most TM fragrances, but this one is pretty crappy. Similarly, I felt the menthol in Ice*Men ruined the patchouli and nutmeg dry-down.

I did a video review on both of these and I agree that the orange note Sunessence really throws it off and the fact it smells like someone pour water in chocolate <----- that doesnt smell good. Pure malt is the best that the TM mens line has to offer and Sunessence is the worse. There is no comparison...... give me a lighter A*Men and I might like it but not a watered down chocolate orange.

I have both, I like pure malt but both are great IMO. If you crave that angel sent in the heat you have an option(not a joke).
