BRIDESMAIDS (2011)

Yes, the scene you’ve heard about is funny. Belly-shaking, tears-running-down-your-face funny.

The SNL alum spin-offs have made ironic forbearance, coping, a great comic theme of our time. Characters are guileless strangers in the strange land that is the world, which they’re doing their best to politely accommodate... until total mayhem breaks loose. And then they cope ironically with that too. A bit of corn starts to sprout about halfway through the movie, producing a bumper crop by denouement. Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, and Melissa McCarthy in great form.

Broadway Danny Rose. (1984.) I love Woody Allen and expected a lot after reading positive ratings and reviews, but I really wasn't too impressed with it. There were some funny parts, but overall it was just "meh." Oh well.
