The Love Machine - amazing camp fest follow-up to Valley of the Dolls. Trash doesn't get much better than this. Your appreciation of this film will increase substantially with repeated viewing. Prepare to be astonished by extraordinarily high levels of early '70s weirdness. Superior '70s art direction, fake Burt Bacharach score. Beyond cheesy, it is truly hard to imagine what they were thinking when they came up with stuff like this.

Skyfall, I've never really been into Bond films, but quite enjoyed this one. It looked good, included some of my favourite landscapes (London and Scotland) and Daniel Craig, Judi Dench, Ben Whishaw, Javier Bardem, Rory Kinnear and Naomie Harris were great in their roles.

A true masterpiece of film...Wim Wenders is a genius. Great taste.

I recently watched The Birds (1963) - a classic from Hitchcock.

THE THIRD MAN (1949)

Carol Reed’s famous postwar film noir, set in bombed-out and cynically recovering Vienna. Screenplay by Graham Greene. Overrated, if you want to know, but its quirky mystique has its insidious impact. Although Welles is onscreen for just a few minutes, when he speaks there’s a striking breach in the artifice - how does he do that? - and the movie comes excitingly alive. Joseph Cotton, Trevor Howard, Alida Valli, Orson Welles, and “oh, that zither!”

I found the old Russian Sherlock Holmes series on DVD in Tallinn and have watched most the episodes, only four left. This is simply charming! Livanov and Solomin are great as Holmes and Watson. http://www.bakerstreetdozen.com/russianholmes.html
