State of Grace - 1990, with Sean Penn, Gary Oldman, Ed Harris and Robin Wright. Directed by Phil Joanou, the first film he made after Rattle and Hum (as he toured with U2 on The Joshua Tree tour).

Incredible film.

Actually not a film this evening, but a report/documentary about a non fictional family of Swiss francophone expats settled in Canada, though the characters are real actual people, the broadcast still has art film qualities capable to compete with any fictional story:

"La Saga des Perrochon, 35 ans en image" (2011, Switzerland)

Great Expectations (1998) - amazing movie that has been with me since it first came out...Ethan Hawke, Gwyneth Paltrow, DeNiro, Chris Cooper and Anne Bancroft.

A modernization of the Dickens classic that, in my opinion, has great acting and beautiful direction (Alfonso Cuaron!). The most beautiful Gwyneth Paltrow has ever been on screen.

Cuaron's next film in 2001 was "Y Tu Mama Tambien" - for me, an incredibly deep, emotional, sexually-charged and brilliant film in his native language that is a modern classic.

My wife and I just finished watching the original Twilight, 2008. Never seen it before. A bit adolescent with the supernatural theme, but the on-screen connection between Kristen Stewart & Robert Pattinson was very real...

I can finally say I saw it.
